What type of flooring for new studio
#51
I have bamboo hard wood flooring in my studio, if it ever gets scratched it can be refinished, and Molly my robot keeps all the threads and lint vaced up. Also pins and needles that are dropped are much easier to find and pick up.

If you are going to do long arm quilting and have a cement floor I would definetly use a insulation layer and a hard wood floor or laminate. If you can add something else under it to make it softer your feet and legs will love you.

I used a floating cork floor in my 18 x 26 sewing room (1' x 3' rectangles - Lisbon Cork Co.) from Lumber Liquidators. It absorbs noise, is soft to bare feet, warm (comfortable) in the winter & goes with everything.

I'm surprised that so many people don't like carpet. I have berber carpeting in both my sewing room and the room my mid arm is in and I love it. Maybe it's the type of carpeting. I don't think I'd like a plush carpeting in there but I think the berber is very easy to keep clean and I can easily see pins, etc. on the floor.

I would have laminate or wood. But I would find the money to have one of these:

My new hairdresser has one and all I did was lust for it. :0)

I hate carpet in my sewing area~ in my teen I had "shag" and pins and needles that fell would get lost in the pile, usually sticking straight up, waiting for my bare foot to find it! Can't roll my sewing chair on it, either. I'd definitely go wood or laminate!

Anything but carpet. I have basic sheet vinyl in my sewing room which is easy to clean and I hear pins drop.
The loft still has carpet and when we renovate that area (soon) it will get laminate. That is where my Quilting machine lives.
