You have my sympathy. When my DH passed away 16 years ago in my arms, I waited till family arrived before the funeral director came. One of my best friends made me sit between her and another friend on the sofa when they transported the body. It was unbelievably painful for me to have them take his body out of our home. I never heard of these 'passage' quilts before, but I believe they must help. I think I will make some.

So sorry for your loss. The passage quilt is new to me and what a marvelous idea. It somehow makes the process a little easier to cope with. Bless you and your family.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. You've had many years of memories with your Mother. Hold those memories close and she'll always be with you in your heart.

I had never heard of a passage quilt until I saw your post. Thank You. I have a friend who lost her mother, and this would have been a wonderful thing to help her with her grieving process. She has had a difficult time of it, and I just know this would have made it so much easier.

Once again, DebCavan, my sympathies are with you.

It warms my heart to see so many interested in Passage Quilts.
Rather than take from DebCavan's sorrows, I felt it was best we move our discussion and photo sharing re Passage Quilts to a new thread.

I hope all understand my thoughts and reasons,
... and will continue to support and comfort DebCavan here.

So sorry to read of your loss. Our moms are dear to our hearts. Mine passed 3 years ago and I still think of her every day. She taught me to sew and I am thankful for her guidance through life. Remember the happy times for sure. As for a Passage Quilt, I had not heard of this before. I will contact the nursing home my mom was in to see if they would be interested. I do know they have special quilts they put on a residents bed in memory of a passed resident to help ease the roommate's pain of losing a roommate.

Deb, my most heartfelt condolences on the passing of your beloved mom. I like the idea of a Passage quilt and think it is most fitting that such a pretty quilt was used to help with your mom's passage.

God bless through this time. You were blessed to have had for that many years. Your new tradition of using a passage quilt is an education for me. Glad it brought you comfort; and as always, this forum is the place to teach us all a great new way to do things. Thank's.
