The quilt becomes beautiful with the story that goes with it. A treasure to keep.

I don't think it's ugly. It's very pretty, and made more special by all those precious memories.

I agree, it's not ugly. The colors aren't bad, even if the fabric is not cotton, plus it has meaning for you.

I finished a project a few years when my IL's moved. My MIL gave me some boxes and said "Here you sew. Can you do something with these?." It was a box full of clothing that my DH's GM had cut up a long time and started sewing together in a crazy quilt kind of fashion. There were some big sections already pieced together and I just kept adding. I added some Moda Marble as an inner border.

There was enough fabric to make a King Size quilt for their bed, plus a 24" bed pillow face from a leftover section I couldn't fit into the quilt. My MIL was thrilled. I wish I had a picture to share.

My children (447, 48 qne 49) still have the patchwork Christmas stockings my mother mad out of our old clothes.
I think there are still acouple of her quilts around too. They are ugly, but we all enjoy seeing the swatches of fabric and remembering the clothes they were made from.
Funny how ugly the fabric looks but the clothes were not ugly LOL.
Take care.

I think this is a quilt that I hope I will make or have made. It has a heart and a story and it continues to share love! How perfect!!!

I do not think it is ugly at all, I think it is wonderful, and thank you for sharing your story, I am glad your dad got it back.

And, yes, I have a polyester quilt a family friend had given me, I am going to be putting a simple sheet backing on it, I too thought it was "ugly" but as I look at it, I really do like it because of the time and love that was put into, and I like alot of the older quilts anyhow, it takes me back to a time I wish I lived in and makes my mind wander and dream I suppose, if that makes sence. But I can not wait to get mine done and put it on my bed.

I keep telling ya, there is no such thing as an ugly quilt. Expecially one made with love. It may not appeal to everyone, but NO QUILT IS UGLY. It is a beautiful story. I never did find the quilt I made for my mother when she was in the nursing home. Hopefully someone is enjoying it.
