All right, I signed up on the sister thread, not fully aware of this thread here. I'm aboard this train now and have 3 UFOs to do. I know that sounds like I'm a real finisher, but considering I've only started quilting in the summer, that's as many UFOs as finished quilts! And by quilt, I mean 3 table runners.

The first UFO I'm choosing to work on is an I Spy play quilt for my baby niece. I actually basted it today, so yay me. LOL Thanks for the motivating thread.

I'm in too. Last count I had about 35 WIP's (Works in Progress). Several just need binding. Another 6 or so are pieced tops that need quilting and I have a long arm. haha

My goal is to finish an average of 1 per month. I'm making a rule for myself this year.... NO new starts until at least 2 are complete. That doesn't sound like enough. I'll make every effort to beat that.... No new starts until at least 3 complete. There, I feel better. Now, I am going back to piecing the rings for Judy Niemeyer's Bali Wedding Star.

I'll buy a ticket for this train ride. My goal this month, complete a WIP motorcycle quilt, quilt a QOV top, quilt a charity quilt top and hand stitch binging on a small wall hanging.

I am in for the long ride on this train....to the end of 2014. I will set a goal of finishing at least one project a month but hope to get motivated and move at a faster pace. I have lots of UFO's and WIP's of my own as well as several quilt tops from my mother who at 85 is still producing faster than I can quilt them. Am looking forward to lots of pictures of projects completed from fellow quilters during this ride!! That always motivates me. As my 2 year old granddaughter would say.. All Aboard the Choo Choo Nana!! Hope to make lots of friends along the way!!

Ding dong ding dong!!! Ringing the bell for the great finishes we have already seen! Wow, you guys are impressive!
I'm still sitting back and looking proudly at my neatly sorted UFOs. LOL, haven't even decided which one to tackle first! Goodness, I guess I better get off my duff and make a decision on that first of all.
Well, I actually am almost done with one, as I am about to trade off the Dresden Plates, and that will count as a finish. Still have those hearts to deal with..... hmmm.

And put away your money, this train ride is free.... we want you to be able to buy what you need for finishing up those projects!
Hugs and smilessssss

OK since I've been at this for about 40 years, I know better than to count UFOs. My son said, "I bet you have about 50 started"! My reply was that I stopped counting when I was well over that number. I did set up a list of about six that are must finish or overdue for this year and I will concentrate on them. A couple of round trip tickets just for starters!
A bookcase quilt for a nephew before he graduates from college.
The Gathering which was supposed to be done last November.
Ka-Bloom which has a lots of pieces cut out and ready to stitch.
A garden quilt for my sister and the basket is full and ready to stitch.
My BILs snowflake quilt, before I 'steal' any more of the fabric!
A cat and a foal quilt from Toni Whitney. Both have been enlarged, traced and ready to fuse.
The problem will be choosing. Actually the challenge quilt for the guild is first, can't forget that.

I have so much I want/need to do this year. As I'm typing this, I'm sitting in the Salt Lake City airport, on the way to the Rose Bowl, where Auburn is playing Florida State for the national championship on Monday. This trip is a stretch for me, and I hope it doesn't slow me back down. I've felt better the last week or so, and done a little sewing, but I'm an accountant, and with me going on this trip, I've worked 11 hours ea of the last 2 days. We drove the 100 mi to Atlanta last night dealing with restless legs & anxiety attacks. I loaded up on "stinky pills" and crashed as soon as we got to the hotel, then loaded up on them again & slept most of the flight here.

The man woke me and told me to look out the window just in time to see the mountains. I almost cried. My first thought was how can anyone see this and question the existence of God?

So, now that my meds have started to actually help, what's on tap for this year? I have a throw quilt to make my best friend. I'd like to make the quilt I designed with my dad's military history for my brother, but I think I've about decided to make it a wall hanging instead of a full quilt so it can be hung instead of them feeling awkward about using it or thinking it has to be out away. I'd also like to make the king quilt for our bed, which I bought marble fabric for but still can't decide on a pattern. This will be the biggest I've ever made, so it also makes me nervous. And, of course I have a runner swap to finish. I plan to start early on gifts for the man's staff for next Christmas as well.

His mom's 70th birthday is in July, and I'm debating making something for her as well. I was playing around with a site that turns photos into cross stitch, and put in a beautiful photo I have of the (only) little church in the town where he grew up. I think I could convert that to a postage stamp quilt easily enough, but I'd definitely need a design wall, which I don't have room for. His dad and older brother are both buried there, and that's the church where his confirmation was held, so I know it would be special to her. I'd have to collect enough blue and gray fabrics to work it out first. If I remember right, the cross stitch pattern called for about 40 different colors of thread.

I have a dozen or so BOM projects that I managed to put on the back burner so this year I am trying to complete the ones I have plus a few other started but never finished projects. One is about 22 yrs old, half way hand quilted then put aside. Now I have to take it apart, and redo the sashing, new batting, new backing etc. I has about 20 counted cross-stitched blocks. I think my year is set.
