I got the same email, Rob, and I didn't even open it. I was such a good girl. But I do worry that Bluprint might have serious financial problems without our help.

Grats on passing up that email, you two!

I have not been finding much at the thrift stores the last couple of weeks. On the way home from my Mom's I checked out my local St Vincent's and made a couple of scores. One is a UFO/WIP, looks to me like they shortened a twin top but who knows... Anyway, the fabrics are lovely and fairly good sized but the workmanship is poor, for $1.99 it was worth it for the fabric even though I'm going to pick the seams out (huge seams, like 1/2-3/4", hope the folds come out). Also picked up a piece of what I think is 1950s vintage, has a sort of abstract football?? game border print on black background with a variety of happy/angry faces in the stands. Super cool, maybe two+ yards for $1.99.

There was also a piece I didn't buy of what I think was 60s, maybe it was 50s, what I would call "Dutch Colonial" designs. I think it would be considered kettle cloth, very slightly heavier and coarser weave than quilting cottons. Multiple yards of white background with blue and brown designs, I think they would be kitchen curtains. Back in my collecting vintage fabric days I would have snatched that sucker up so I'm feeling reasonably virtuous that I didn't succumb to that temptation. There were also some large bags of scraps that were even on tag day that I passed up, too much non-quilting stuff or else I would have fallen...

Sewing-wise I trimmed off the triangles from the seams of my first purple units at small group. While I was at my Mom's I pressed the seams and then pinned all of the border and about half the block units to the correct white pieces until I ran out of pins. So goal for the rest of this week is to sew all those units together and then finish up this stage on the remaining blocks. Will be a super fast project once I'm not holding up and double checking every piece of the white-on-white. I found I didn't turn my fabric over correctly and did sew a total of four pieces of the white-on-white wrong side up (two each of the same white in two different purple blocks), all the other pieces seem to be fine and the design was strong enough that I don't think it will be obvious. Going to leave it in as is.

Good for you, Rob and Grann, for passing up that fabric!! And, Iceblossom, too, for showing such restraint. I visited our local thrift shop today, looked around and went right past the craft shelves that has the displays of fabric without even peeking. I felt no interest at all. I guess since I've resisted the urge to restock the stash for so long, I am cured!!

I fell off the wagon to the tune of about 12 yards, and at a terrible time, too. I am not sewing right now till my left shoulder heals up. Hurts too much after a session of sewing that I have decided it's best to just stop for a while. Meanwhile, all this brand new fabric sits and stares back at me .

Something about that Blueprint irritates me, not sure what it is. I think that Craftsy had more to offer for less and was easier to get around. Have to give Blueprint a fair chance, but can't seem to enjoy it when I try to get into it.

Best be careful, you know what they say about "aholics", they think they are cured so have that one more try because.....and bam, right back at it again. I think that might be true with fabricaholics. This whole thing is not easy, but almost to the end of April and only 2 yards so far. I did put 5 yards into my cart yesterday at some nice things at Marshalls, but then closed the webpage instead of buying, so yes, I agree, I think this moratorium works, or at least it helps...a lot.

Thanks for the warning, AnngelAnne. And, I agree. When we get overconfident bad things often happen. I started this moratorium thing in 12/2017. Since then, I bought only 3 sheets... one was an accident. I was shopping for a fitted sheet for my bed. When I got it home from the thrift shop, I found that it was mislabeled and it was the wrong size. Rats!! It did go into the stash until I find a use for it. The other 2 were king size flat sheets that were made into pack-n-play sheets and are gone to CPC already.

I am seeing dents in the tons of fabric I still have and I really am committed to use up as much as I can. I am a very little old... very old... lady, and I hear that I can't take it with me! I guess I could tell 'em, if I can't take my sewing machine and my stash, I ain't goin'!

Silly Susan, You are just too funny and you keep us all motivated to try and slash our stash.

I have been very good not buying stash. It doesn't mean I haven't bought any since January. Because I have fessed up when I did. But, I am trying to make much more thoughtful purchases and checking my stash first before buying instead of after. And, I have even compromised on wanting to run out and find the perfect piece by excepting that I have an almost perfect piece at home that needs to be used first.

But, it seems I have traded stash for quilting books. So, now, I have to add the no buying of anymore books to my list. I have been so bad lately. I've probably bought 10 in the last few months. Most have been used and second hand. But still, I feel I am just trading one habit for another. So, no more books either. I really loved the ones I picked and bought. But, now, I need to stop buying and start creating from all those wonderful books I've bought.

It would be different if I was quilting like a mad woman. But, I have been in a quilty slump since one of my fur babies got sick several months ago. I knew his time was coming. And, two weeks ago tomorrow I helped him cross the rainbow bridge. But, I'm still struggling to concentrate. I am doing a little here and there trying to stay busy. But, yeah, I miss him being under my feet while I sew. Which was his habit the last 6 months of his illness.

Teen, I was sorry to hear you too have a sick kitty. My DD recently adopted what she though was a kitten for her daughter. Come to find out she's probably closer to about 2. But, DD is still happy with her. I think she may have adopted a kitty with severe allergies. I'm glad my DD is helping her. It was the cat's last chance at adoption. They were going to put her done if she didn't get adopted. Other then allergies, she seems nice from what DD says. They live in another state from me.

Judith, I'm sorry to hear of the loss of your companion. It's hard to go through.

But that's the nice thing about fabric, it will be ready for you when you are ready for it. May you find peace and comfort where you can.
