Rob, some times that is the best strategy. Set the thing aside and plunge into what you know you can do. That feeling of accomplishment often is just the little bit of encouragement to prepare your mind and fingers to attach that challenging piece again with new perspective of "Yes, I can !",

Like others Ive been in a bit of crafting doldrums. This school year - teaching with some kids in front and some at home on the computer....its for the birds! And my husband got Quarentine for exposure and surprised me by ripping up some nasty old carpet in my sewing room. Much appreciated and needed to be done - but really put a kink in my activity. Last night I got back to a scrappy project - Lemoyne stars from Missouri Star pattern. Made 2 blocks and went to bed. So very tired....all the time....

Rff1010....I feel for you! So many kids will be left behind with this schooling schedule crud despite the best efforts by you and fellow teachers. In my small community, we had a high schooler take his life this week. School cancelled until further notice. Just awful.. my heart breaks... I called school and offered grief counseling so I’ll be busy next week. Trying to put together some zoom group counseling for teens, too. Might be helpful for teachers to take 30 mins a day for a group session to just talk with the kids about whatever they want to talk about. Take the pressure off them for a bit. No easy solutions that’s for sure.
I’m finishing up the applique, finally, on my gazillion HST quilt. Haven’t been able to work on it much with all that is going on. I hope to have a picture next week to share with you.

2020 Fabric Moratorium joiner
I did this last year and have not bought anything new except for a couple of backings. I did not have the right fabric to piece a backing and wanted to have it whole so as to be a second sided quilt. I'm in for 2020 and will be in for 2021, too!

Auj, welcome back. We understanding buying and using what is needed to complete a quilt. On the whole, we are refraining from buying just because we "like it" and trying to use what is on hand in our stash. Welcome, and happy stashing digging.

Rob: Sometimes stepping away is necessary. I did that with one of my recent finishes and it ended up going in a totally different direction. Lol!
Rff1010: Thank you for everything you are doing to make school work for the students. My school district is in hybrid mode right now. I’m not sure who or how the students are being taught when they are in their 2 distance learning days though. I do know there are teachers who are teaching only distance learning students. One said she has 26 students online. I decided not to sub for now. It wasn’t an easy decision but it was a smart decision. A couple of my teacher friends told me last month that I made the right decision to stay away for now. The online teacher verified that too. I know teachers are working harder now than ever but they know it needs to be done but I can’t even imagine how any of you can stay awake after work.

Another finished top. I started out by looking for something to go with the blue tree repeat fabric. I had about 42” of it so decided to cut it into rows for horizontal sashing. The organization of my stash over the summer came in useful because I knew where to find the animal squares and then I looked in my realistic animal stash and found the other prints. It took some time to get the top made but I’m happy with the outcome. 69.5” by 80”
