Had a 60% off coupon* for Joann's so off I toddle for a little retail therapy....NOTHING was jumping out at me as "I need it" Ended up coming home with just a few yards of White on White (because you really can never go wrong with extra WOW in stash) and nothing else. I had a project that I'm currently working on and I was looking for border fabric...and nothing looked good! I did get another pkg of batting but really escaped for much less than I anticipated.
*helps that i get irritated with JAF for playing games with their coupons. Mine was for 60% off non-sale items - but this fabric was 30% off, and that one was 40% off, so nothing that was even interesting was really a bargain.

This evening I was watching a live stream of a group of women talking about Christmas and how to make it meaningful. One suggestion was to give of yourself and from what you have rather than stressing about shopping and running about trying to find gifts for every one. Then I had one of those sparkling magical moments when I thought "I can give some of my collection of pre-cuts as gifts". My collection is not huge but some of those have been sitting for 3 or 4 years in their cellophane wrappers just stacked up looking pretty. It will reduce my stash and will please someone else in a small way with something that they can use. I have a couple of quilting gifts in mind already for a daughter and a friend. Just something to consider.

What a sweet idea, WMUTeach!
I kinda sorta fell off the wagon yesterday. I've been eyeing a piece of fabric at work since I cut kits for the shop (aka eating up eye candy!) I know there was only about 6 yards left on the bolt...gulp...I cut 3 yards of it for me as well as 2 one yard cuts of coordinating fabric. The fabric screams my older sister and I haven't made a quilt for her in some time. I'm thinking this as an outer border of maybe a medallion type quilt.

Tomorrow is an open house at the LQS plus Black Friday sale and I want to make sure I had some of this. Now to find time to make it.

I have been working on a kitted UFO so using up fabric. In between, I have been making a block here and there that I have found while cruising this board, on Instagram, etc.. I made 2 of your wonky star blocks, oksewglad. If I make more, I either need to use smaller squares or use my 4" squares and bigger triangles. Lol! It's been a nice diversion to try something different. I found some FG from last year. We were learning to make 4 at a time at an open Friday night sew at the LQS. I brought fabric that wasn't to my liking for all of us to use to practice sewing and then we practiced using our Deb Tucker rulers to trim them. Guess what? I got all of the FG back! I now have them ready to sew to a center square and will choose corner squares as I go. When I put the FG and squares together, I forgot I needed corner squares until I realized the last 2 FG didn't fit. Geesh!

RetT...have fun with those wonky or maverick stars. I started with 2 1/2" squares in a 9" block.
I am working on a quilt making a 16" block...because 16 doesn't play nice divided by 3, I am using 6" cut squares and will cut the blocks to 16 1/2" to use in my quilt...need 11 of these. Then need 9 to finish at 8"...again using a 3 1/2" cut square and then cut the blocks down to 8 1/2". I am hoping this will work. Using low volume fabrics for most of the background.

Glad to hear all of you doing so well. I fell off the wagon in August and haven’t been back up since. I think I’ll try again next year.

Next year I will post pics of projects I complete with this years purchases and my stash. Next year I figure all of my fabric will be from my stash again. LOL.
