TOOT, TOOT to everyone who had a UFO completion and to those of us who are working away for a finish in the near future. Thanks very much! Nice way to start the year! This train ride is starting of very well! :)
On a side note, All of my UFOs are in only one tote this year. I have 2 pinned and hopefully, I can get them done this month. Keep your fingers crossed! And everyone, keep up the good work! |
Hi everyone!
Sorry for being so absent lately! :( I've had several customer quilts to get done - the last one (the Baltimore Santa custom quilting job) is on the frame - all the others have been delivered!! Friday and Saturday, Foust Textiles is having their "open-to-the-public" sale. My best customer and I are going to the sale together Saturday morning. She's just hoping to find some good buys (she will, I know!) while I'm hoping to manage to stick with buying a roll of batting... and MAYBE a bolt of extra-wide fabric. I've joined the fabric moratorium this year, and so far, I've been a very good girl - no new fabric purchases at all, except for the commissioned quilt. I even used fabric that I already had on hand for the backing on one of the other customer quilts. I just went back through the posts, and even though we're off to a somewhat slow start this year, I'm loving all the beautiful finishes!!! I'm hoping to do several patchwork pets (teddy bear, dog, and floppy-eared rabbit) to use up two yardsale tops. |
One stitch at a time...need to sandwich the Charming 9, but will set it aside for now...I know I know I should just get it done...instead I have pulled out some RWB 1 1/2" scrap strips I've been collecting for a couple of years. I plan on making this quilt except make 63 blocks so it will better fit QOV criteria, then donate it to our local QOV.
http://www.modabakeshop.com/2011/01/...tml#more-11075 Meanwhile I've figured out the layout of another QOV top...off I go to cut setting sashes and border. |
"In My Garden"

This is a little embroidery project I started last year and finished the embroidery, borders and quilting in January. This is my third UFO this year. I also joined the American Patchwork & Quilting's UFO Challenge where they choose a number each month and that's the UFO you work on. January was #6, thus my finish of "In My Garden." Our local quilters guild also has a bucket list for 2017 - have finished three of the eleven we were allowed to list. Love these challenges - they really get me inspired!

Glowjean great finish.
I only have two UFOs or I should say I only had two UFOs I have a finish. 567818 I won't be working on my other UFO until May as I have two quilts to make plus a baby quilt between now and the end of April, but I will be checking in to see all the other wonderful finishes. |
Looks great, cannyquilter..
|
Congratulations, Glojean48! Love this darling Embroidery/quilt finish! Toot, Toot for you!

Glojean48 (2/8/17,pg.41,#404) "In My Garden" is gorgeous, simply said.
Cannyquilter (2/9/17,pg.41,#406) your chevron is pretty and complete. As I always say, if I don't look at the thread for a couple of days things happen around here but, it's always pretty. Happy sewing quilters. |
It's grey and white.

UFO top completed
1 Attachment(s)
I sort of finished a UFO. I combined some test blocks and orphaned blocks, used some sashing black and greys from my stash and made a top. I will be donating this one!
|
Oh, I like that, dettonlisas. The way you combined the black and gray for the sashing adds another layer of interest and gives a nice modern feel to this cool sampler quilt top.
Rob |
Dettonlisas really like the way you've done the sashing.
|
Wonderful finishes. Now that I am done with the quilted wedding dress, my boom blocks, and donation blocks, I am ready to get some ufos completed.
Love your finish Janice, that is cute and 18.5" sometimes can be one of the hardest to finish. Congrats on the entry Rob. That is where my quilted wedding dress is also. Take me a photo of it while you are at the show. Glojean48 "In My Garden" is gorgeous, simply said. Cannyquilter your chevron is pretty and complete. Fraew, if you need a UFO to finish, can always send some to you. If I missed anyone else, sorry, always love looking at the finishes, it encourages me and keeps me pressing forward. |

Congrats on the entry Rob. Glojean48 "In My Garden" is gorgeous, simply said. Cannyquilter your chevron is pretty and complete. If I missed anyone else, sorry, always love looking at the finishes, it encourages me and keeps me pressing forward. i am excited to report that i have polished off 6 more this month. :D http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...s-t285999.html that leaves "only" 6 to go. one of those shouldn't count because i am going to pass the top on to a friend so she can have it quilted. then she can add it to those she donates to a local group home for kids. one i am going to send out to a long-armer. it's queen size and i just don't have to room to sandwich it without killing myself. a friend of mine has two she will use to practice on her new long-arm rig. that leaves 2 i need to sandwich and quilt myself. those will have to wait til next month. i am up to my eyeballs reorganizing and down-sizing around here. it's starting to look like an episode of hoarders! i will enjoy seeing everybody else's finishes until then. :) |
Way to go, Patrice...and IMHO count the flimsy...it's off of your UFO pile!
|
That's awesome! Congratulations on the pile movement.
|
I have so many UFO's that I lost track! LOL! Maybe this will get me going on finishing a few!
|
Patrice, I would count all the tops you've finished and given away because you are done with them.

Geez, O Pete! What a group of finishes! Six in this month. Congratulations, PatriceJ. :) Toot, Toot! And the one you are giving away will DEFINITELY count. Let us know when it's officially gone from your stack and we'll call it another finish.

Very impressive Patrice and for sure the top you gave to your friend counts since it is no longer on your UFO pile!
|
Congrats QM that dress is stunning.
Way to go Patrice those are such lovely finishes. |
QM, I can't seem to find the photo of the wedding dress. Is it some pages back?
Patrice, congratulations on all those finishes -- that is major pile reduction! I love the log cabin! |
Feb. UFO finish!
1 Attachment(s)
Hey all,
Here's my UFO finish for Feb. I took Angela Walters' Craftsy class several years ago and quilted this, but didn't like the quality of some of the quilting, so it went on the UFO pile. On Friday I decided to get it off the UFO pile and rip out the parts I didn't like (which ended up being all the fish which I decided I didn't like the pattern AW had chosen so I just quilted around them and echoed, and also the purple areas, which I re-did using rulers). Anyway, here it is, and I even added hanging corners to the back AND hung it up in the bedroom. In the photo it's pinned to my design wall. :) Rob |
Another one bites the dust.....

FINALLY! One done. I made this wall hanging to try out Ricky Tims' Convergence technique. One REALLY has to keep the head in the game so there are some mis-cuts but I trudged on. The quilting is STID and I think - well, I KNOW that I didn't have it basted well. As a result, the bottom edge got crooked. What's a girl to do? Decided to keep trying more new techniques.
1. Trimmed the bottom edge curvy and nobody will notice the crooked lines. 2. Tried flanged binding and REALLY like that method. 3. Quilted a huge funky feather across the middle in 28 wt thread. It's not real showy but I'm happy with it. All in all, my lemons turned into lemonade. |

Holding at UFO status for about a year--We have a pic of the entire quilt-twin sized for my cousin's little one. I also just found out they are expecting another around July. I am looking forward to sending them more "Country" items from the cousin in Oklahoma!
Here are close-ups of the embroidered farm animal squares given to me. Martina- great save! I like it a lot.
Motorcyclemad- cute quilt, good job incorporating those cross stitched squares. Rob |
those are all nifty quilts!
i love them all. but am especially impressed by the quilting in rryder's project. i hope i can learn something from it for one of my own in future. |
Wonderful UFOs.
Love your wallhanging Rob. The quilting is beautiful. Your baby quilt is so cute and colorful motorcyclemad. Martina that is a beautiful save. |
Rob, kudos -- not only for your beautiful work but for getting it up on the wall!
MadQuilter, that is a gorgeous piece! Motorcyclemad, I love your setting for those adorable embroidered animals. That is sure to be a favorite for the little one. |
Aw thanks.
I think our finish list is growing quite nicely. The animal blocks are super cute. Rob, your quilting is lovely. |
Rob (2/12;pg 43,#428) Lovely work as always, but one question is it a 'hunter star or a carpenter star?'
Martina (2/12;pg 44,#432) loving the wall hanging, that 'lemonade is sweet.' Madeline (2/12;pg 44,#433) The farm quilt is really cute, I just love hand embroidery. Do you think those prints are still available? As I always say the pretties really come out when I'm away. Happy sewing gang. |
Congratulations MCM for your UFO finish! The embroidery is darling. Toot, Toot!
