I am working on two quilts at the same time; using one for leaders/enders while I work on the other. The leaders/enders quilt is a double UFO. It was someone else's UFO and they got rid of it by gifting it to me after they had pieced it, then cut it apart at the seams in frustration. When I got it, it was roughly cut 6" squares. I played with it for a while and tried a few layouts, then put it aside. Now I am determined to finish it.
The other quilt is a donation for a fundraiser. I hope to finish both this month! |
I have a quilt about 3/4 quilted....

I didn't join this thread at the beginning of the year, because I had such a depressing 2106 for finishes. However, I'm feeling motivated right now. I finished a stack of binding last month - I'll dig up some photos and post them. And, I have a plan to get through at least some (many?) of my LARGE stack of tops this year. First, I'm tired of looking at them hanging in the closet. And second, I've committed to two trunk shows at the end of the year, and at least 3 of those UFOs want to be highlights in the show. So that should be some motivation. One might wonder why of the few quilts I've finished recently, none of them were on that particular list ...
|
Welcome, kristakz!! Glad you are here. My motivation to finish some UFOs is to make more room for new projects. :)
|
Welcome , Krista. Hope your UFO load gets much lighter during 2017.
|
Welcome Krista!
I've been sidelined due to out of town visitors every weekend this month and a sick horse (he's now better). Right now I'm trying to get all the sewing done on a tuffet cover for a tuffet I'm making for DC out of her late husband's neckties. I've already got at least32 hours in it washing the ties, taking them apart, ironing, stabilizing and cutting into 2inch strips as well as getting almost halfway through the sewing. I think I' be got another 8 to 10 hours of sewing to go. I have to get it done before the upholstery part of the tuffet class on the 27th which I signed up for since I don't have the tools or materials to do the upholstery part. Fortunately the LQS gave me a discount since I'm only taking the 2nd half of the class! and we have another out of town guest :) showing up tonight to stay until at least Mon and an out of town funeral to go to on Tues:(. Long story short-- my UFO for April may have to wait unti May to get finished. Rob |
You can do it, kristakz. We are all in the same boat here. Too many obligations, too many interruptions, too much frustration, and sometimes too much procrastination. I started to focus on ONE THING at a time. That really helped my mind-set and I didn't feel overwhelmed. It's a much easier approach to say "I am going to finish [name the project] than to say I have [# of projects] to finish. For some of us the latter would lead to rolling up in a tight ball and covering our faces. lol
|
Tight ball, face covered here.
|
Oh my lots of fetal positions....I would be in one if I counted...I like Martina's idea of concentrating on one at a time...good advice.
|
No counting here, either. I'm not doing any machine quilting these days, but I am getting some hand quilting in daily. Slow progress better than no progress!
|
Same as Lisa (joe'smom)! I am doing some had quilting but haven't touched my machine for the last few days...hopefully tomorrow when the usual routine returns. HAPPY EASTER!

My April finish is a queen size quilt for a friend as a thank you for framing in my studio for me. I will try to download a picture, but at this time I am unable to do it. I am able to download pictures of embroidery items I have done, but not bed quilt size pictures. I am computer challenged when it comes to doing more that the most simple of tasks.

Finally finished a three year UFO called Twist and Shout. The picture is not very good but I love the colors.

twinkie....Lovely quilt! Congrats on the finish. I have that pattern bookmarked but under some other name. I had planned to do it in bright colors with black. Now, I'm thinking maybe white would be better.
Sophie...Congrats on the finish. Hope you can get a pic posted. edited to add: I have the quilting finished, as of 2 a.m. this morning. Today I plan to add the binding to the front by machine. Hand-sewing it to the back will take a few more days. |
Twinkie, that is beautiful!! Great colors!

Sophie....so glad you got to post your beautiful quilt. DS was standing here looking over my shoulder and tells me that this is a quilt he likes. That's because it has green in it. The green does look awesome with the lighter color.

Great finished so far this month!
Here's one to add to our list. It's for my SisterInLaw. I had intended on making her a whole different quilt, but after I finished all the Grandkid's quilts her daughter shared that she wished she could have a quilt like the grandkids were getting. She wanted to see more of all the fabrics her mom had had. Nuf said! I took her bag of grandma fabric that I had kitted and made one like the grands! Her daughter told me she liked light blue, she was lucky grandma had enough light blue stripe! I started making it with yellow stars but it kept telling me to use white. (Do Amy if you have quilts that talk?) i unpicked all the yellow and started over with white! I made it larger than the grandkids too, which required me to piece the back. For her back, I used fabric that was actually curtains in my SisterInLaw's bedroom when she was a girl. I hope she likes her quilt! It's really one of my favorite grandma quilts. |
Great Quilts Twinkie, Sophie and QuilterMomma Like them all
|
Like your quilt SheriR
|
Twinkie-- I love those bright colors!
Sophie2-- very pretty quilt-- glad you were able to get a photo posted QuilterMomma--neat bargello-- I enlarged it on my screen to get a look at the quilting and then got caught up in all the interesting fabric choices you made Rob |
I like that SherrieR-- the front and the back and the quilting! Good job bringing it all together.
Rob |
SheriR...great quilt. Nice quilting. I want to learn to do FMQ. I have a small top with greens/blues and plan that as my first practice FMQ project...won't be started until some of the bigger sized quilts are completed.
|
Interesting quilt, SheriR....a wonderful setting for your vintage fabrics...
|
Such lovely finishes! Congrats
|
What a great compliment when a potential quilt recipient doesn't want a different one.
|
Good Morning. I am still working on hand sewing the binding to the back of my quilt. Having some issues with it.
