It's finished!
My camera bit the dust and I am waiting for $$$ to get a new one. Here is a photo of the finished top...before quilting it. I just did stitch in the ditch on the columns. Man...the black border was a mess after the quilting.....and talk about ravels! It was cheapie black fabric...looked good and sewed well but it picked up so much fuzz from the batting. This quilt is for my spare room bed.

oksewglad 04-19-2017 08:42 AM

Looks great, anne2016. The black columns are a great focal point.

QuilterMomma 04-19-2017 08:56 AM

SheriR, love that quilt. Makes a nine patch just shine with the sashing setting. I think I will get some of my blocks that have been sitting there and do this sashing. Will jazz them up and get them into a quilt that needs off my UFO list.
anne2016, that is a beautiful monochromatic quilt. Love it. I am with you on the black fabric issue. It can be a bugger.
I am finally getting to one set of my Boom 17 UFO project. It is on the wall now and making the setting blocks. Thought to jazz it up some. I may or may not do a pieced border depending if I find any stash fabric that will blend with it and then onto the longarm.
Still have not gotten my garage cleaned up and the longarm into the house. We are having our first real day of spring with warm temperatures and sunshine together at once. Not that I want to weed, but my garden area is needing it really bad and the soil is so wet can't get out there yet. Going to have my hands dirty and shoes.

Nice finish, anne2016

I didn't think I'd have time to finish a UFO this month due to lots of out of town guests. But the last one left Monday and after reclaiming my sewing studio (DH still calls it the guest bedroom LOL), I was able to pull this smallish piece off the UFO pile and get it done. Good thing, too since I didn't have a new piece for the 4th Friday opening at the gallery where I show my work.

I think this one's been sitting around for the better part of a year (or two) waiting for inspiration.

Very unique Rob. Do you dye your own fabrics?

anne2016 04-19-2017 02:46 PM

Congrats on the finish, Rob. Glad you found the time to get into the sewing room and finish your creation.

MadQuilter 04-19-2017 03:51 PM

I wish I could work as freely as you do, Rob. My style is much more controlled.

MadQuilter 04-19-2017 03:52 PM

Anne, your quilt looks great. Very modern.

Thanks QM, Yes, I do dye/paint some of them. In this case, the silk and or polyester satins were dyed/painted using alcohol inks, fabric paints and regular artist's acrylics.

Thanks, Martina. I'm lucky in that I have a local art gallery that seems to like these experimental pieces, which is a nice confidence booster. That plus a photographer friend who retired and had lots of fabric he'd used as props for his commercial photos--he gifted me with huge quantities of fabric that he didn't need anymore, so I ended up with lots of velvets, silk and polyester satins, poly/cotton and linen solids that I wouldn't have bought on my own--it was trying to figure out what to do with all those different kinds of fabrics that got me moving toward the more experimental end of things.

Thanks to everyone for showing your finishes. Great work!

anne2016: I have some dark blue that just grabs every little piece of lint and I even washed it first. Frustrating to say the least. Your quilt is very nice.

I started the year with 2 UFO's and, thankfully, I haven't added to that number but they aren't finished yet either. Lol!

I am giving myself until the end of June before my Bonnie Hunter En Provence is put in the UFO category. I haven't worked on it since the first part of January. Oops!

Retiredreacher09, I'm still working on my top too. I figure in a month I will be done with the top. I really like the colors and design of this mystery this year. I'm just enjoying the process.

As for UFO's this year, I'm still struggling on deciding what to work on. So far nothing is calling out it's their turn.

Love all of the lovely finishes.

joe'smom 04-20-2017 06:08 AM

So many great finishes lately. They're all beautiful!

I love your bargello fabrics, QuilterMomma.

Anne, that is a beautiful black and white quilt. Every time I see one, I think I should make one. But I never buy black fabric, LOL.

Another UFO completed. I did most of this a year ago and kept putting off adding the feet and eyes. Glad it is finished - such an easy finish - don't know why I kept putting it aside.

QuilterMomma 04-20-2017 10:23 AM

Adorable Sophie2. You put it off because up had to do the hand work of attaching the eyes and feet. That is my normal hangup on some projects, the handwork. They are adorable and love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sync 04-20-2017 10:42 AM

Rob, congrats on the finish, that piece is really unique.

Sophie2, that piece is just so adorable.

MadQuilter 04-20-2017 11:22 AM

Those birds are adorable. Yes, they needed eyes and feet.

Hi Guys,

This is my March finish, but I haven't been able to put it up as I have been hiding it because it is a gift for my daughters birthday tomorrow!

Adorable Caroline!!!!

QuilterMomma 04-20-2017 01:56 PM

I have counted them up and I have approximately 46 UFOs left is all. Decided to get my numbers in order so I know what I have left for the year. Hoping to get a couple of show quilts out of these. Now when I clean, I may find a few more, but thinking I have them all. These are projects I started and have abandoned because of "Quilter's QPAD". (Quilter Project Attention Deficit) I made it up. LOL

Beautiful, Sophie!! And I am so glad you were able to get the picture to work!

rryder 04-21-2017 03:46 AM

Sophie2-- That's a fun quilt! I like the idea of using the cord for a wire!-- sometimes I'm having so much fun with a piece that I don't want to put an end to the fun by finishing it.

Caroline- cute kitty!

elly66 04-21-2017 04:18 AM

Such great finishes. Love seeing everyone's work.
