Great finishes, krista.

Nice Quilts Krista

Sync 04-26-2017 11:37 AM

Congrats on the finishes Krista.

rryder 04-27-2017 03:59 AM

I love those Krista! Those grays and blue greens just sparkle.

Rob

elly66 04-27-2017 04:12 AM

WOW Krista those are gorgeous. More patterns to the bucket list!

kristakz 04-27-2017 05:49 AM

Thanks everyone :) Someone asked about sizes. The top one is a baby quilt - about 30x50" I think, and backed with flannel. And the other is a lap quilt about 50x70"

QuilterMomma 04-27-2017 07:52 AM

The second one has me intrigued. That is so cool and love the look. You did great on both of them. Nice job!

QuilterMomma 04-27-2017 07:56 AM

I would have some finishes if I was not recovering sofa cushions that were dumped on me and a baby quilt. Actually once that baby quilt is done, that will be a finish and it has to be done by Sunday and gone to west side of state for a baby shower. I am also getting a hutch and buffet so have been cleaning up and arranging furniture to make it work. Oh the guilt, I am throwing away a plant that I have had for about 20 years. The kids got it in Sunday school when they were little and it just keeps growing. I have thinned out several times and ignore the plant, but it keeps growing. Am I so bad? I am just tired of taking care of it. I will keep my orchid which is easy, you give it an ice cube once or twice a week and it blooms twice a year. Done. Takes up just a little space on counter. what more could you ask for in a plant?

Bug Lady 04-28-2017 04:23 AM

Nice Job Krista, I really like the mint look. Thanks for sharing.
Karen

joe'smom 04-28-2017 06:12 AM

LOL, QuilterMomma. You are not bad to throw away the plant. 20 years is long enough.

wildyard 04-28-2017 07:29 AM

Got the top of my UFO finished and today I am pinning layers. Hurry hurry hurry!

Janice McC 04-28-2017 08:53 AM

I've got my small quilt all done except for the binding. Getting close!

And QM, I get the nostalgia thing with the plant but it really is ok to let it go. So many other things in life to have guilt over. Compassion and kindness for yourself, too.

QuilterMomma 04-28-2017 09:26 AM

I had left the plants on the counter, as I said, and daughter put them out on the front sidewalk. They did not freeze last night. Maybe the can stay out for the summer and then in fall they will just die with all the other flowers. I must note, that my dining room, where they were, is so much brighter now with them not crowding out the window.

As I studied and studied over the backing for this quilt, I finally realized that I can't put the backing on it because I don't know who is going to receive it at this time. Therefore, I declare this UFO finished. There is nothing more I can do with it now. In the future, when a recipient is chosen, I will then be able to back and label it. For now, it is done and no longer a UFO.
This was made from blocks that were gifted to me by someone who made the string blocks and sewed them into a top and didn't like it. They then cut it apart at the seems into HST blocks which I was given.
After a lot of time in a baggie, then more time on the wall being moved into various patterns... this is the one I chose.

oksewglad 04-28-2017 09:49 AM

A double UFO, Linda...theirs and yours...now onto the finish line... I'm playing farmer today...have bookwork to do now that computer is home....

rryder 04-28-2017 11:22 AM

I like the layout you chose Linda. Good job!

Kassaundra 04-28-2017 01:28 PM

I got closer on a UFO today, my En Provence. I had not touched it in several months (I know not a very old UFO, I've got much older) Anyway I got the main body finished now it just needs borders and a binding and it is done (I QAYG) so the main body is pieced, assembled and backed.

Those finishes are great ladies, I love stripe play!!! (Janice is aware as BOOM mistress, lol lol lol)

Thanks Rob, I had a lot of fun playing with those blocks for layout.

I've been absentee for the last 7 months but have been looking in to see all the beautiful finishes. Back in Wyoming now until the 1st of October and have some finished but need to take pics. Will do that this weekend and post. Think I need a larger house in Florida so I can set up another long arm machine and setup:)

anne2016 04-28-2017 02:12 PM

Linda, that's a great layout. The quilt has wonderful movement. I can see different designs depending on what I focus on. When I focus on the lights and greens, the on-point squares look like lighted windows; focusing on the oranges, I see a chevron pattern. Great work.

QuilterMomma 04-28-2017 03:12 PM

My first response Linda was, "Oh Wow!". That is neat.

My small blue and yellow quilt is done. Yippee! Toot, Toot for me. I couldn't be happier to have two finishes this month. This is Cyrano's Quilt. Presenting Cyrano with the unfinished quilt this morning,

And the finished quilt this evening. Not perfect, but done.

It's a BOM from about 2003 I think. Blocks are 9 1/2 inches. This was my first QAYG piece. As it's only a practice quilt, I pulled two scraps from the stash for the blue sashings and binding. I didn't have enough of either one so I used both. The cat doesn't mind as he claimed it for his favored sleeping spot.

Libster 04-28-2017 04:02 PM

I'd say he's a very satisfied kitty with his treasure. Well done, Janice. Toot, Toot for you! Don't you just love this method?

sewbizgirl 04-28-2017 04:07 PM

Cyrano is one lucky kitty to have his own quilt! I love the yellow and blue theme, and the blocks are awesome.

Sync 04-28-2017 04:21 PM

Cyrano looks extremely happy with his quilt. Congrats on another April finish.

jaba 04-28-2017 05:39 PM

Awesome quilt for kitty! I'm going to look for blocks tomorrow Janice......if I don't find some I'll let you know:)

anne2016 04-29-2017 12:30 AM

Janice, congrats on the finish. The yellow and blue combination is pretty.
Cyrano looks happy to be the recipient.

Kassaundra 04-29-2017 02:32 AM

Yeahhhhh great job, Cyrano is adorable, and blue yellow combo always looks so fresh.

Janice McC 04-29-2017 04:23 AM

Yes, love is the word. All those boom blocks, plus other BOMs now have a much better chance of becoming real quilts.

Love yellow and blue combinations and yours Janice is no exception:thumbup:

Grinch 04-29-2017 05:52 AM

Wow, kristakz! I love the colors! Great job staying focused and finishing some projects!

Grinch 04-29-2017 05:56 AM

Janice and Linda, both are beautiful!! You are all motivating me to keep working on this UFO. I have a set of placemats that should have been done last year, but I am not done with the binding. I am not sure it will be an April finish. I am a very slow quilter. I take forever, but I enjoy the process, so no complaints.

petthefabric 04-29-2017 10:08 AM

Janice and Wildyard.....progress. Are we having fun?

I'm so busy staying current, UFO's are still where they have been... Maybe next month.

Any other finishes this month?

wildyard 04-29-2017 12:07 PM

I have double the fun, and progress too! I also finished a new project quilt today. I used the UFO blocks as leaders and enders with the new project as much as I could, until it got too big to work that way. I'm lucky all the fabrics ended up in the right quilts. LOL
My new project is a donation quilt for a fundraiser against neurofibromatosis and I'll be donating it next week. I used a charm pack and a fat quarter pack plus a few scraps to eke it out. I'm very pleased with how it came out.
So I'm feeling very accomplished this week. :)

Janice McC 04-29-2017 03:09 PM

Thanks for all the kind comments. I've already pulled out another set of 12 1/2 inch UFO blocks from a Boom swap. I'll need to make three more then I'll have enough for a lap quilt when I add a little sashing to each. I'll use QAYG again but might try adding a border to this one. We'll see. I'm not counting on it being done in May but perhaps June. I also have a top I need to put together that will go to the LA. It's from about 2005. Good grief.

JuanitaBean 04-29-2017 03:23 PM

wildyard please post picture would love to see it. Helps us with scrappy ideas

Here are photos of the other 2 quilts I mentioned earlier this week, as part of my 4 finishes for April.

The first is about 4 years old, and I understand is called "Carpenter's Square". However, I originally drafted it myself from an inspiration I saw online. Love teal, as you can see, and used the last bits of several different teal fabrics in this quilt. Once again down to the wire, I at least saved enough of 3 of the teals to make a scrappy binding with some of the neutral thrown in.

The second is my own design, called Stepping Stones. It was originally to be submitted to a magazine (over a year ago), but I discovered that I don't have the patience (or is it dedication?) for that process, so I'll probably just release the pattern later.
