Another completed project. Pattern pics came from an old magazine with a change for November to honor Poppy Day. This one was a joy to do. It took me many months and it was my first project using floss but I loved doing it. Not sure it could be considered a finish because the project was finished many years ago and there is minimal quilting. I wanted to hang it in my hallway. Then I changed my hallway wall color and no longer felt that my wall hanging was a good fit. I took it out this month and added fabric tabs and I will be hanging it in my sewing room.

I have a UFO finish for August! It's about 44" square and has been hanging around my studio for several years.

Janice nice green and blue UFO. I like the colors.

anne nice green and orange UFO. I like the green fabric. The top looks nice. Your hand stitching in your wallhanging and quilt is pretty. It's a great feeling having a few UFO's completed.

anne2016 08-29-2017 09:23 AM

Rob...that is another great quilt. very creative. I have this one bookmarked into my 'modern' folder. I have a 'scrappies' folder, a 'modern' folder and an 'unusual/interesting' folder. Now that I think about it, your quilt could go in either one.

rryder 08-29-2017 09:32 AM

Thanks anne2016! I'm never sure what to call most of them either LOL

I finally finished another UFO! In fact, I have 2 others just waiting for binding, but this one is comletely done and ready to donate. It is at least 2 years old, but I'd have to do some digging to find out exactly when I started it. I remember when I bought the fabric - my very first Kaffe Fassett, and I had no idea what/who I was buying at the time. But it made a great one-block Wonder. I used the green I had hanging around to extend the size a bit, and play with some alternate layouts. And then I realized it was still too small to donate to Victoria's Quilts, so I found some coordinating fabric and added the chevron border on one end. I wasn't sure about it at first (but I was desperate), but it's starting to grow on me.

Oh, I like that! Very cool quilt Krista!

Anne2016, I'd say they are both UFO finishes. It took something extra for it to be put into use so the wallhanging is a UFO imho. :) Also, your quilt for Goodwill be found by someone and loved. Congratulations and Toot, Toot for your two finishes.

This UFO had been around for a year. I didn't enjoy making this quilt and it will be put the Goodwill box asap. I had the green leaf fabric for a project that got changed and I wanted to use it to make a simple pattern quilt. I like orange and thought it would look good with the green. When I started putting it together, I came close to hating it. Once the top was finished, I was ready to throw it but I laid it aside and worked on other more enjoyable projects. I went through my UFO pile when joining this group and I saw it again and thought it needed to be the first UFO I finished but I couldn't bear to work on it. I kept putting it off. Finally, it is finished and I am so relieved.

Kristakz...Your quilt is awesome. Very creative and the colors are wonderful.

joe'smom 08-30-2017 05:58 AM

Congratulations Janice, your swap finish is lovely!

Rob, I think this is one of my favorites of yours. The touches of blue are great in there.

Very beautiful, krista!

Anne, your embroidered quilt is charming!

Way to go, everyone!

oksewglad 08-30-2017 06:01 AM

Anne, I always admire quilts with embroidery work...not a skill I have acquired.

Not your typical stacknwack setting...very nice, kristakz

Sync 08-30-2017 11:07 AM

anne2016, congrats on both finishes.

Sync 08-30-2017 11:13 AM

Rob, that looks great, congrats on the finish.

Sync 08-30-2017 11:14 AM

Sweet finish Krista.

wildyard 08-30-2017 08:00 PM

Wow, you guys are simply producing some amazing stuff this month. Can't pick a favorite but maybe Krista's creative way with the blocks, setting and edging would edge out. Such a bright, pretty and unique quilt!

So many finishes and I am stuck running to the doctor with stupid health issues that continue to crop up one after another. A CT scan for abdominal issues found an area of concern in my lung so now I am going to a pulmonary specialists. I told DH I don't mind helping to support the area specialists but I think I am doing someone else's share also. I have already been sent by my GI docs to the Cardiologist and Hematologist. Now the Lung people.. sheesh, who's next?
I have not neglected quilting altogether, just my UFOs. LOL I made a game on Facebook wherein I gave away a quilt of the same to the first person who could guess what color fabric I had the most of in my stash (cuz I seem to like getting it but not using it). The winner guessed (brown) so I am now making a brown with blues, Churn Dash quilt to give them. I suppose one could consider having stacks of never used brown fabrics UFOs. LOL
Also, my grandson is coming on Sunday so I can help him make a weighted quilt to help him when he is dealing with his Autism issues. He is independent and doing well, but some days just needs a little extra comfort which this quilt will help provide!

Janice McC 08-31-2017 05:17 AM

Today's the last day of August. Anyone on a push to finish a UFO for this month?

I started this quilt in 2014 and finished the top last year. The top finished at 90 X 102 and was to big for me to hand quilt on my floor frame so I put it away until I could find a long arm quilter. Well, I just got it back yesterday and I'm really pleased with the job the long armer did. Excuse the mess around the bed ..... I didn't have any volunteers to hold the quilt up so I could take a good picture.

Great finishes, everyone. I am FMQing my Halloween wall hanging. I could call it done (sans binding) but I decided it needs more quilting.

anne2016 08-31-2017 01:34 PM

Sync....Congrats on the finish. Beautiful shade of purple.

Very nice, Sync!

Does this count? A friend asked me to finish a top for her. She took this class (from me) at least 3 years ago, and now the top is finally done. It was a 4-Terminator project this weekend during the VQW (I watched 4 of the Terminator movies while working on it). My part is complete - now it goes back to her for quilting.

Here's my pic from last month. The tee shirt quilt that was made for a friend. Does cleaning out a long closet in sewing room room count as completing an UFO? Just kidding. I think it should. I'm on day 2 and I still have 1/2 the way to go. It's hard to get into the room now. After dinner I will go back and work until late tonight. This was one of my VQW projects. It seems to take over my weekend. I have forgotten things I had stuff in my closet. Happy sewing everyone.

MadQuilter 09-04-2017 02:23 PM

Wish I could meander as cleanly as you, happylab.

Great finishes, kristaz and petthefabric too.

If it's leaving you sphere of control, ie. to someone else, counts for me.
By the way, I think it's fabulous.

oksewglad 09-05-2017 05:19 AM

I haven't gotten much done and here you folks are cleaning out closets and finishing tops for others...gee I'm a slacker...keep up the great work...

joe'smom 09-05-2017 06:41 AM

That's a great-looking meander you have on your T-shirt quilt, happylab! Very nice looking quilt!

Very interesting pieces, petthefabric. I love the gamboling bunnies. Are these hangings?

Congratulations on all the finishes!

anne2016 09-05-2017 11:17 AM

petthefabric, kristakz and happylab...congrats on the finishes.
I have been so busy mediating the family problems that I can't seem to find time to do anything else.

Yes, they're wall hangings.

MadQuilter 09-05-2017 08:13 PM

The girl who hates spiders is creatively ruffling spider legs for the Halloween wall hanging. Binding is on - hanging tabs are on - all that's left is the embellishments, so I am calling this one DONE!

Janice McC 09-06-2017 04:16 AM

Good morning. Time to post August's UFO finishes. Thanks to Sophie2, MadQuilter, Happylab, Glojean48, Jaba, Kele, Janice McC, Anne2016, Rryder, Kristakz and Sync who had a combined total of 31 finishes for the month, our year to date total is...drum roll please...202. We broke the 200 mark! Congratulations! And Toot, Toot for all.

Janice McC 09-06-2017 04:21 AM

Kristakz, to my mind, it's a UFO finish for you. :) Toot, Toot and Congratulations on getting this one moving along the road to completion!
