You know, a lot of people talk to themselves and it has nothing to do with age or medical problems. Maybe she is used to being alone during the day and talks to herself and forgets to not do it when she is out in public. I've caught myself mumbling to myself in public and have to remind myself that I am not at home alone. Or she could be a loony but maybe not.

Would it have been appropriate to say, "I'm going to get naked and wrap it around myself. Then I am going to dance in the moonlight."

I have loved reading all your comments about this. Many are just plain too funny!
I do want to say, though, that I didn't mind her asking me what I was making. I love talking to people about projects - mine and theirs.....but it was the comments, the shaking of her head, the comment made later as I passed her that all weirded me out. I carry on conversations with cutting table people, people in line, people shopping, etc etc etc all the time, as long as they aren't trying to be demeaning, or start name calling "oh, you're one of THOSE" as she walked around to other side of table.
I wish I had some of those Vista.com free business cards with some of these comments on them - just for a laugh. In fact.....maybe I'll do just that! lol.
And for the record, I'm a 20 year LPN on a long term psych ward at a Veteran's Hospital, so it takes a lot to wierd me out, and this did it!
You are all too great for words!

That's true. I know I weirded out a lot of people when I was pregnant because I kept talking to the baby, even in public, even when I wasn't showing yet. I'm sure plenty of people thought I was completely nuts!

I found myself talking to the yogurt at Safeway today. Really. Usually my DH is close by and I can pretend I was talking to him, but this time he was outside in the car.

Good thing about blue tooth headsets now - people don't think anything of someone talking to themselves. lol

You just look irritated and say, "Why do YOU need to know?"

That's okay, it didn't have much to say anyway.
