I sewed my finger in the same place you did, but the needle didn't break. I got it out by rolling the wheel backwards, but boy did it hurt. I did not go to the doctor, I think yours must be worst with having broken the needle.

I sewed the side of my index finger several years ago and hit the bone and shattered it. It didn't heal very well and now my finger is crooked. I also had to go in and have shots for infection.

i have done it myself, i heal quickly, but i did do it with my commercial consew, man do they have a lot of foot pressure, the needle did not break, but i just about did, thought i was going to die, it took a sometime for it to heal, not long, but with a commercial machine the pressure was so great that i lost feeling in the tip of my finger for months, never lost the nail tho, get well and take care

I had to laugh at your story (not the result tho') When I was about 8 years old, my mother was gone and I was never to use her treadle machine while she was gone. Of course, I did and sewed a needle through my index finger. Because I wasn't supposed to do it in the first place, I couldn't even cry to her when she came home, but oh my did it hurt. Jumped up and down and held it in cold water. To this day I have a tiny white spot on that nail just to remind me, so evidently I damaged the area under the nail.

I had to see a surgeon also, still have a 1.5mm piece of needle in my finger. Puncture wounds are very dangerous. I had to be on antibiotics for 2 weeks also. I took special care, did not want to get infected. I did finish the project I had been working on though with my finger bandaged.

Oh yes, I did that when I was 17 years old. It heals but slowly.

I did this about a yr ago while sewing in my basement---needle went all the way through--I yelled and friend came down to help me as I was caught and yelping---he asked me what could he do---I said "STAY BACK-DO NOT COME NEAR" until I figure how to get it back up high enough so that I could finally pinch and squeeze to get my finger out from under-----oh- it did hurt so bad----

I haven't done that but I sneezed when curling my eye lashes and pulled out every lash I had.
