Thank you! I have really enjoyed this site, and this string in particular. My DH got rid of an old Singer I had, boy, now that I have seen all your posts I sure wish I had it back. It was a treddle with motor add on. I have the cabinet, I refinished it and used with my STudio Knitting machine, just got it out and have my new Jenome sitting on it.

Back from vacation with my grandma's treadle machine. I have been searching for the source info without any luck. I have a Minnesota Model A Treadle. The serial number is D1217986. Where can I go to date this machine? I think it is a badged Davis.

    Hi Hazeljane,
Can you post a picture of your machine as this might make it easier to date. I have a Minnesota treadle dating to 1901 serial # 956849.

Oh No! Leaha ... I think someone borrowed your machines while you were not looking :) Love your sewing area and design wall!

Aw...now I see that they were returned. They are just darling. What a great addition to a sewing room.

    Leaha,
I look at your sewing machines and try to imagine sewing a quilt or a dress from that period of time. Have you tried sewing with them and if so, is it as challenging as I imagine?

No I have not tried to sew on any of these, my dad had these in his musuem. Dad could do any thing with wood but was not into machines, Clocks, Phones oh yes he could take them apart and make like new, but machines, not his thing, but he collected every thing! Afraid I'm like my dad, just can't take machines apart , fix and get back together. these babies need a new home, where they can be all fixed up. They do not have a bobin, they are chaine stitch machines,

I love this idea..and I have a question...I purchased a Singer 99-13 the other day at a yard sale...it certainly does need some TLC for sure..but was wondering if its even worth the investment...you would probably need pictures to know for sure and I will be happy to send them pm if you need...but the cabinet is not worth keeping and if I decide to have this repaired I would want to look for an orginal case for it...I got it cheap so I really can't complain..blessing
