That is why I said IF I count the ones in the garage. The ones in the garage are only visiting (I like your term...visiting). I do have to count the ones in the garage that are planning on living with me inside (if I can shoehorn them in). I definitely do not count the parts machines.

Oh YES that is an affirmation to rescue more. Grab that thought and run with it. VBG

Sorry for the absence. One of my furry ladies has developed some sort of issue, bladder infection or something, along with some erm,... bottom issues, and we've been on sick watch all weekend. She's at the vet now, I'm going to pick her up and get the news shortly.

Well, I'm a little embarrassed to say that there are often sewing machines in the kitchen here. They go there to be photographed before sale, and to get out of my sewing room when I'm tripping over them.

I'd like to see a group photo of your machines. I'm reminded of the huge class pohtos we used to have in school where everyone stood on the risers in the gym and the photographer stood wayyyyyy back....

Ohkay.... I guess I'll sew something.
I may put a motor on it for now though to do it. I had been thinking of a nice cover for it,... or a quilted table cloth sort of thing for the table in the trailer.

Here's hoping for the best. We've had to deal with a couple of bladder infections in our furry friends around here and it's an open question whether the ailment is worse than the cure. The antibiotics lead to more, errr, bottom issues and tend to put them off their feed. Since the cats were already sick being off their food just exacerbates it. Arial never did regain any weight and Isabella hasn't yet Hope you have better luck!

OK,.. I'm good with that. All of the machines here are in the basement, if they're not being worked on or going out the door. DH often takes them downstairs, and makes sure he brings me a running total of the number of machines down there. The number of machines doesn't get me though, the number of cabinets that are collecting down there does. There are 4 cabinets currently, I try to send them with the machines, but they don't always go. I forsee needing to stack them soon...

I think he's also a little more comfortable with it now that I'm starting to learn the "release" part of the catch and release program I started here. Either way, I'll expand into the other rooms, he doesn't have to ask twice (and might not once it starts to happen.)

I had similar problems about 6 years ago with gizmo, my little old grey lady before she passed. The pills made her so sick and she was a bear to keep eating. She had renal issues, and hyperthyroid. In the end though, it was the undiagnosed stomach cancer that got her.

I'm just terrified of the results I'm going to get in 20 mins. This is similar to what started the whole merry go round ride with gizmo. stormi is 16 1/2 years old, I've had her since she was about 4 weeks old. I'm a little attached to her. When they expressed her A glands this morning I almost passed out when she started screaming.

I've heard that cats don't have a strong "hunger" drive, and can switch it off, and once switched off, it's hard to switch it back on. I will be making some chicken breasts for her tonight, and sprinkling brewer's yeast on it. Yes, it's stacking the deck, but I'm willing to do it. All I could get her to take in on the weekend was tuna juice and the gravy from her favorite food. I prefer chubby kitties, they're always healthier. (CRF and hyperT kitties are never chubby) Told the vet that too. She knows I will let them eat as much they want, as long as they don't get fat.

Yep, not a strong hunger drive. Isabella had managed to keep her weight up despite being CRF for 3.5 years until the bladder infection. We've got her eating well again (sub-q's twice daily) but she's just not putting the weight back on.

If we ever have another with a bladder infection the vet's going to try an antibiotic injection in hopes of not trashing their digestion as badly.

I tried to get them to all line up in a row...but you understand that herding machines is at best difficult. These pix are they best I could get.

What's your favorite vintage machine to use?

We actually saw a 31-? at the antique store yesterday but it was on the pricey side and it's just not as purty as the others so it stayed to tempt someone else later on.

Favorite to use?? Gee that means I must admit to actually sewing.
I have used my aluminum 99K handcrank for most of my quilt blocks. I also favor my 301 and my 15-90. I have to admit that the smoothest, best running machine I have is my Wheeler & Wilson 9 handcrank. I guess my favorite machine changes due to my mood.

That's a really good idea, I didn't realize there were injections for the kitties! Well, stormi's home, that's the good news. The bad news: Stage 3 CRF, beginning HyperT, and we're not sure about the bladder infection, because she decided to let it go on herself. So I'm on "sample watch" for the moment, and pulling out all of my info on CRF and hyperT again. It's been more than 5 years since I had a CRF kitty so a refresher will be in order. At least she seemed to like the food from the Vet, both the wet and the dry. Of course, going most of the weekend without food, I bet she'd eat DH's dirty work sock too now that her bottom isn't as upset. At least nowadays they advocate "High quality protein". 6 years ago, the vet wanted to put Gizmo on a low protein diet, which I wouldn't let him. Cats don't eat salads, they're carnivores.

Once I get the sample, I'll ask the vet for the injection if there is an infection. She's a young vet and she seems to be really open to "other choices". She mentioned a CRF treatment that uses rhubarb as its base, she's getting me information on that.

The thing that I don't quite get though is that the Creatinine is elevated to stage 3, but the rest of the values are normal. It seems like something's not quite right, but I will do my reading.

Thank you, Cathy! The good news about CRF, from what I remember is that they often don't really realize they're sick, so it's about managing it (other than the not hungry thing)

She seems a lot happier now that she's home, I bet it was the stinky glands doing it. She's eating like a horse.

I LOVE the pictures! I always enjoy seeing the way people corral their herds. Is that a book case on its side? The suitcase beside the 403(?),.. that's not one of the "Attachments" boxes that April 1930s sells, is it? What's the machine on the treadle base with the "B"? And the chainstitcher on top of what looks like a singer top but I'm not sure, because the irons don't look Singer? Look at the size of the wheel on the Industrial Singer! Wow!
