Augh, you just got to love this one! It is so gaudy that it is loveable. I still say it is the best "ugly" Kenmore out there.

I purchased a "new" Brother 220 Super Streamliner sewing machine. I fell in love with the color. It looks pinkish in the picture but is really a nice shade of lilac.

I have a question about lubricating the motor and thought that someone might be familiar with this type of motor. The manual that came with it really doesn't give much information.

All it says (and no picture to illustrate it) is:

One drop of oil in the motor bearings every six months is sufficient to enable your motor to last many years. Oil holes are located at both ends of the motor. We suggest a heavier oil (such as SAE-20 grade).

Here is a close up of the end of the motor. Would the oil hole be the little one on top of the "bump" in the center or would it be that 2 holes on either side of the "bump"

Isn't SAE-20 grade oil the kind that is used in cars :shock:

Just silly me... I want to modify the front of the darning circle by cutting it out... metal is more durable than plastic, therefore, it might be a lot easier to 'snap' the plastic accidently. :lol:[/quote]

I was able to get the hinge back in place but it is still broken. It weighs about 100 lbs so it's hard to do anything with it without someone helping.

It's funny that you mention that. I bought a pink Atlas, from Billy, and my two youngest kids have been arguing over who will get it when I die :shock: :shock: :shock: It's an awesome machine.

I actually 'had' to buy another one :roll: (a Brother this time) so that they wouldn't keep fighting over it....I was beginning to think they were going to kill me in my sleep just to get the sewing machine.

I have a question to all Singer 319W owners. I posted a picture of my machine a few pages back. What # bobbin case is the original? The bobbin case that came with my machine is a vintage Simanco 173058 (the closed type). I see some online stores list this bobbin as the replacement part. Yet, I saw on ebay a posting for the "open" bobbin case where the seller states that if you're using the closed type it's the wrong one. Huh? Can you please let me know what bobbin you have in yours? I would rather not have to buy a new bobbin case, but I also would prefer the correct one! Thanks.
