Vintage Sewing Machine Shop.....Come on in and sit a spell

Oh, how cute Lesley! Love, love, love the celery color of your machine. I don't know what the ring is. I sew on mine al the time without that type of ring so you should be ok.
On the oil, boy, I am not the one who could answer with any confidence.
I am sew glad your experience with eBay was a good one.
Oh yeah, my FW doesn't sew slowly. Billy, Charlee or someone else would be able to tell you what is causing that problem. (FYI:one can't ask too many questions in the shop ;-) )

That particular Featherweight is the slowest and least able of the Featherweights and it is not surprising it sews slow. However, check the belt. It should be loose yet able to turn the machine. You WANT it to be loose. It was designed to be loose and won't prematurely age the motor that way.

I'm not really bothered, as I have quicker machines, I just wasn't sure about this one, as I have never seen one working.

I am not interested, but thought someone else might be.

Just got home with "Dani" (named for the dear sweet man Dan, who gave her up for $25)
She is a Singer 99, AC094862, 15000 made,
date allotted April 10, 1928
She does run, but needs some TLC, and a few missing parts...key, instruction manual, box cover on right side.
I figure she will be a good machine to work thru Billy's tutorials.
I think she was a pretty good find.
