I fell off the wagon, purchased 5 yards of fabric last night. But
in my own defense I have been hunting for the right dark purple
for months (4-5 at least) searching for a dark purple fabric for
a pattern I want to make which is the "Phoenix" Quilts Without
Corners Encore by Cheryl Phillips.
Well last night I went to 2 Hobby Lobby, Joann's, and 3 LQS to
hunt for the right dark purple. Not one single store had the right
fabric. So after going home I sat down at my computer and started
the internet hunt, but it is so hard for me to judge the true color
on the computer which is why I hadn't done the hunt before.
I have the perfect dark purple in my stash already, but I only have
a 1 FQ, and 1 F8 and no selvage to know who made it.

At least you put a lot of effort into your fall, Quilty-Louise. I have bought fabric that was "close" when the RIGHT one wasn't there. Did you take the sample pieces with you on your hunt? That usually works for me to help keep me honest.

No I haven't been able to find my fabric since I started on the
sewing room overhaul/organizing/cleaning.

I have not been in the fabric store since before Christmas, I did pick up a nice sheet at the thrift store for backing for a quilt but that's it. Went thru about four totes of fabric that were giving to me a couple years ago and got it down to two and shared the rest with friends.

I ran into that with the star flower quilt top. I couldn't find the right fabric so I bought a number of wrong fabric substitutes. Now all I can say is I'm really glad it is a community quilt. It's beautiful but the fact that I never found the fabric I wanted for the corner stones would always haunt me if the quilt were for me.

Oh no! Clearance fabric at my LQS is $3.50/yard! (Store is Quilts Ole in Corrales NM). $3.50/yard ! ! ! ! Oh well....I will NOT drive past there........it's closed on Sunday and the sale ends on Monday.......so I just need determination for today and Monday! Yikes ! ! ! ! I think the only thing that will help me is realizing I don't have any more room for fabric until I complete some other quilts! I went into our guest bedroom last night and "rediscovered" I had 4 quilt tops quilted (just need binding attached) and 3 quilt tops to quilt!
So, I will get moving on those and then maybe the next time she has this great sale, I can take advantage of it.....Oops! ! ! I mean in 2017 when she has this great sale! (forgot my 2016 goal)! hahahahah

DH suggested that we stop at Joann today as we had errands to run in the area. I declined. The man has actually learned: he didn't push. I did pick up some project boxes at Costco though. That will help get my room in order.

Martina, NoraB, Altairss and others: you all have been doing so well on our mission! I'm really impressed with your will-power and determination. Keep up the good work!!! And hold on tightly till the sale passes, NoraB. So proud of your stopping to think of all your projects ready to finish so that you don't need to add to the stash just for satisfaction. You know, I've found lately that when I have a coupon or see a sale on-line that I want to go for, if I just wait a bit, that impulse will pass and I then forget about it and the buying impulse goes away and I realize I have lots at home to do and use. I guess I have always been an impulse-shopper! But then that passes and I;m left with fabric but no more enthusiasm for the project. Hmmm... Reason for the masses of UFO's...maybe a breakthrough?
Leggz: love your top. All from stash...Impressive!

Everyone is doing so well! I'm very excited, I'm taking a tote full of stash and going to the cottage today to meet my girlfriend. We are having a mini quilt retreat until Wednesday and I hope to get a couple or 3 small tops made. I'll post all the tops I've made so far this year when I get back. No dent in my stash, tho.
