Hi Everyone, I was finally able to pick up this Singer 15. It was born in 1950 and it has a potted motor-- I have one from 1905 and the motor is bolted behind the pillar not high up like the potted motor. I thought they would be the same. Did they still use the potted motor in 1950? I had to disconnect the cord to take it out of the cabinet. I noticed the finish where the stitch regulater is the same as the machine. I don't think there is a separate cover piece. This came in a cabinet.. Queen Anne legs. Lots of scratches so I'm going to sand it down and then paint it. Anne

I may have cussed her some more then too, I am not sure now. :-)
Then spent an hour or so screaming at the bobbin, wondering how in the hel.. heck does this work. Finally, got to some sewing on her. First time treadling and, I tell ya what... I am in LOVE!! This is so awesome.
Even after all that, I would never do the bookends thing. Holy crow, are ya kidding me?? I am gonna get a small shadow box to put some of the things I found in the drawers from the previous owner though. Kinda corny but, hey that's me.
Billy, I do want to say many thanks for all your great tutes and I hope things get settled down a bit for ya to enjoy a few hours in that hot tub ya was on about. I believe without your tutes, I would still be sitting here just dreaming about actually using her. You are an incredible soul, so I tip my hat to ya!

Working on finding a manual, and a little fixes on the cabinet.

craftybear, there's a FW in our newspaper today for $300 firm. I wonder how long it'll be there. I'm not sure FW fever has hit here.
It's almost warm enough so I can start opening up the house to clean machines. I think the Necchi will be first. The firm foot control on my 301 is hurting my leg, so I'm anxious to see if the knee control is easier for me. Then Miss Sophia can be my piecing machine and save AnnieRose for FMQ. The Necchi has to be pre 1950, but she doesn't look it at all. I'm using the Elna to make an apron. She is still the queen - just a lousy quilter.
Your excess water has come north. We've had storm after storm with hail several times in the last 24 hours with another day and half coming.

I'm so glad you put the tutorial for the shuttle bobbin on. I was having the same problem and putting the bobbin case back in I used it about 4 months ago and couldn't get it back in, Im going to go back and give it another try. Thank you. :)
The one I posted the other day is for winding the shuttle. This one is for loading into case and machine: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9tkZrYP5fU

The woman also has a 1908 treadle w/machine that she will be giving to me in about a month or two. It will take her that long to get to it in the room where it is stored. From what I saw it looks in great condition. I couldn't see the base so I couldn't tell what kind of machine it is. I am so happy!! It makes up for the machine/treadle that was promised to me but never received. Today is a very good day!!! Anne

While I know that i can buy an adapter I'm much rather use a normal (for US states) plug on it. The cord and plug are in great shape. Do I need to change out the plug and cord or can I safely just have the plug changed. Thank you
