I saw it at a second hand store, and it looked at me and "asked" me to take it home with me, so I did. I hope I have not done something stupid.
Also what is an average price on thise 301s that everyone keeps talking about? I take it that they are ideal for quilting. Gosh - this is SO contagious!

It looks like the needle was hitting the bobbin case but it was fine for two days, what happened? My DH has worked on it but hasn't a clue as to what it needs other than he thinks it needs timed. How do we do that? I found a service manual on line but the pics are so dark it's hard to understand what they are saying. I love to sew on this machine but I guess that's over.

The FW, on the other hand, had been manufactured since the early 30's! Geeze, if you have one made in 1964, you have one of the last made. I have one of the first FW's made in 1935 and another one made in 1953. Love those FW's!

OT. Just want to say that I love the new avatars of Billy and Featherweight; both have their beautiful quilts. Thanks!

I recently did the same when I went into a second hand store. The machine kept screaming take me home. I left the store without the pretty lady the first time since I found out that all items are half price on Saturdays. Went back two weeks later to find her waiting for me. So, now I have a second Singer 66-1 with the brown decals. I do believe they find you.:)
Just google for a free manual, that is what I did.

I just changed my avatar picture. Its a double sawtooth star quilt top, made with my Singer 201K treadle. Its almost
all pieced now, just 2 more blocks to finish and then it needs borders.
