Honchey that is a horrible experience. I am glad it is over so you both can rest and enjoy your day. My husband is from Texas, and he told me about those fire ants. We have been having some really big black ants, and I am trying to find their nest so I can do something. I don't guess these are fire ants, but one bit me. Hugs

OH Anne! I am sure that ya were terrified! We are constantly sprinkling Amdro around fire ant mounds in Brady. Sometimes we get a few mounds here in Midland too, but not near as many as in Brady.
I have been working in the sewing room the last few days & I think I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I am gonna go & get some more under the bed bins later today. Well after I take a nap.

I had a very busy day off at sex thirty this morning to join another couple and Quilter 65 to see three shops I had not seen before in Missouri. Good news is that I have licenses from most of them to share back with you all. Best one was the bonus one at the end..."Buggy 4 fabrics" license one. (Amish) Yes, I hope it will reflect the shops we all shop at for our quilt supplies in our own local area. Seen lots of things came home with a few, and so thankful the other couple drove the car and we got to relax and enjoy their company. We all seem to enjoy the bargains we found and matching up what we were looking for in each of the gals wish list. Whew! Now ot rest and early to bed tonight.

May all of you have a great weekend.

    Great day, QNS!

I've been doing some heavy 'fabric procurement', myself. Earlier this week I went to one of our LQS to get license plates and the RxR pattern, and ended up buying the whole kit from them. I've noticed the shops are really pushing their kits. This one had some special fabric and three unique buttons, so if you wanted it to come out like their sample, you had to buy a kit. They are sneaky that way! Then I went to the Hancock's liquidation sale and fattened my stash with some great $2 fabrics and handfuls of embroidery floss (9 cents each!). Then on to another LQS for another RxR pattern, and also some great clearance fabrics I can use in my I Spy quilts for kids. That was MONDAY or Tues.... Then Wed. I drove to Vicksburg because that (notso)LQS is the only place to buy feedsack repro fabrics, and precious little as it is. It's getting harder and harder to find it! Also picked up their pattern, so now I have 3. I won't be winning any prizes as it would take too much long distance traveling to find 8 patterns to make into the quilt. I plan on using some I have from last year, and I may not finish until next year. Maybe some of the license plates will go on sale after the RxR is over... if there are any left.

And today I went back to one of our Hancock's and got some more fabric. One of our stores is closing on Monday, and the other one will be open for a few more weeks.

I don't even know where to put this new stuff... but I couldn't pass it up for $1.80 - $2.40 a yard! It will make great quilt backs or charity quilts, eventually.

OH SBG, It sounds like ya had a great time. You too QNS!
I have been cleaning out the sewing room like a crazy woman. Gosh, where did I get all this stuff?

I am sitting in my recliner playing Zuma. I am tired & have been sighing. DH has been teasing me about the sighing & I finally admitted that it was hard to throw so much stuff away. LOL I do feel a bit better now.

SBG, I hope you show us some pictures of your 'acquisitions' that came home with you.

Honchey, JeanieG, SBG, and BillieJean and Dublb I have listed on my license plate exchange....to keep it simple why don't we just exchange one for one and mail it directly ...me to you and you to me??? And go the way each of us want to with the collection: purses, totes or wall hanging or whatever.... Minimize the expenses and let everyone do their own thing...

I got it! Beat the mailman, thank goodness... So I have purchased 6 Mississippi plates that say "Bless Ur Heart". I have 5 to trade but could get more if needed. If you want to trade with me please pm me with your address, and I'll give you my address.

NinaSue, that "MakeMeMoQuilts" plate is too funny. Also like "CutsnBolts"...

Ok... NinaSue asked for it! Here are the photos of my fabric shopping this week. I had already started washing, pressing and folding some of it... others, not. Don't know where I'll put it all! May have to start stashing in another room.

I make and sell I Spy quilts, tops and kits, so I'm always looking for good novelties like these for my I Spys...

Tonight I made and posted some previous blocks: Farmer's Wife, Fern and Geneva. I'm skipping Flora because I just don't like it. It's always fun to post in those old threads and look at what you all did.

Now I have 24 left to make in order to be caught up, and we all have about 15 more to make together. It's a race against myself to see if I can get all the older ones made by the time we all finish the newer ones. I'd like to finish with everyone else.

I am sure SBG, that you will finish with us, and then get the blocks set together! I love all your fabric, you have a 'good' eye to choose wonderful fabric pieces....love them. Tahnk you for sharing because I did enjoy looking at them. Now to see finished projects....LOL!

I am elbow deep in Georgia peaches! Worked from noon to nine peeling and seeded three bushel; now to process today. They were so delicious as I peeled them! Great for this winter.

Have a great day...and great memories from this day.

Yes, I think the swap is a better idea..it would have been too much work for you Nina the other way..I will be shopping this week sometime..I'll swap with all of you so keep me on your lists..

I didn't go online at all yesterday and other than my DH being a miserable person with the ant bites all over his legs, God , they are ugly is all I can say..He has meds for the itching but they still itch...

We went to our community Pot Luck last nite and had an enjoyable evening..it's BYOB and after getting home I was in Bed by 9:30..I don't need to tell you why

I plan on being in my sewing room today practicing some FM on some scraps..I've discovered I really can't sew a straight stitch in the ditch..I was informed by my group that I had to quilt the one I put together..I started out doing a cross hatch diamond wise and they were so wonky I had to rip it all out..so I sewed along the seams and they don't look too pretty either..It is what it is tho..hopefully they won't ask me again...I will do the cutting & piecing & sewing but no quilting!!! Our group is the smallest that produces the most quilts by percentages...

SBG, I enjoyed looking at your fabric shopping....love the repro's.

Have a good day all, H.

Yummy peaches... When my parents were alive we would buy bushels to process. They loved "pickled peaches" and I hardly remember a holiday dinner without them. They were special. I like to make peach jam, too, and I've even put up peach pancake syrup! Happy memories with Mom and Dad in their kitchen, peeling peaches... the whole kitchen sticky!

Glad you ladies enjoyed my shopping trip! I always enjoy seeing what others buy, too.

Honchey, will plan on trading license plates with you.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Beautiful fabrics SBG.

I want to find some fresh corn to buy around me. I can't do a garden anymore. I miss that so much.

I cooked a big dinner yesterday just for me and hubby, and even the fur babies got their taste of it. haha.. I haven't been able to cook much in a long time, and was give out. I did it though and that felt good for once.

Not able to do a lot, and my butt is getting bigger. Well, I started some mild toning exercises that I can start with to help that. I found one video taking a disabled or senior person through safe yoga. It's the only one I found that looked like it would work for me. I wish a indoor pool was close to us, then I would go there to work out.

QNS do we each purchase a license plate for all that are on your list and exchange with them?

It's a hot day here, but pretty. I am finishing a couple of little pouch bags for 2 great nieces, and then finish a couple of other things. Then work on my blocks. I am trying to find more things to store my scraps in after I sew, because I don't throw anything away.

I have so much to do in my house it seems impossible, but I know that is not true. I tell myself. One thing at a time.

Have a great Sunday everyone, and a great week ahead!

JuneBillie, I teach a senior yoga class! The main difference is I don't get them onto the floor. We start seated in chair and then do the standing poses. Sometimes we have a second chair in front to stretch legs on just like being on the floor, but without going down there! Senior yoga is a great idea for you.

Also I would highly recommend water exercise--water aerobics. It's so gentle on your joints but still burns calories and is cool and fun. It is many people's saving grace! If there is a YMCA in your area, they probably offer either Silver Splash classes or an arthritis water class for seniors. Really, any shallow water class would be great for you. Just tone down the more intense parts (if there are any). Our pool is outside but the class is only an hour and we use lots of sunblock!

JuneBilly, you can trade as many bumper stickers that you want too. I give one for one. Honchey does too. I think SBG does, and JeanieG may too. So its whatever you want to buy and sent out between now and September 22, 2016. So don't break your budget, just pace yourself on your own speed... no rush or hurry about it. I would like to collect several...and from different states and places...a good variety of them. I can mail out more than one mailing to you as well, don't think the PO is closing down soon. Nice ot relax and enjoy the moments of our lives.

Yes, I took a nap after completing all 37 quarts of Georgia Peach canning and it felt good. DD just said that I sounded 'chipper' in the phone conversation just now. Have a good week, everyone.

Ha ha... I didn't even catch that!

I'm envious of your jars and jars of peaches. You're my hero, QNS.

I'm getting my embroidery quilt put together today. Maybe I'll share a sneak peek later. This is all hand embroidery, by the way. I got the 'bug' for hand embroidery when I went to the Quilt Week at Paducah this Spring. I saw such beautiful samples that I ended up coming home with patterns! And I didn't stash them. (pats herself on the back...). Who would have thought I'd come back with a new obsession? But I do love the hand stitching. I think I'm going to hand quilt some of the tops I have too.

Today I found an old pattern I'd been looking for. I thought it was Herrschner's or Mary Maxim, but it was actually from Aunt Martha's. When I was about 10 my big sister's godmother made and sent her a beautiful embroidery quilt... each block having a state name, bird and flower. The alternate blocks were pink gingham. This was in the 60's. I have never seen anything like it since... and today I found the patterns for those blocks and ordered them. Yippee.

Peaches YUM! When we took our DGSon back to Bastrop for his DM to pick him up (last week) I wanted DH to stop at the peach stands that were everywhere. The traffic was so bad that he was afraid that he'd never get back on the road. I am hoping to go to Fredricksburg next week to get some peaches. If it doesn't happen that's OK too.

SBG that is the prettiest quilt done that way I have ever seen. I just love hand embroidery. My eyes are not doing good, because they stay blurry most of the time, but I still try. I want to go look for that pattern even to maybe make my sister something smaller with it. I Just love your quilt.

My youngest sister and her husband are selling their home they have lived in a long time, and have found a condo close to where she works in Oak Ridge Tn. and it's closer to where her husband lives too. He is a butcher for the store he works for. He has done that all his life. They don't have any children, and they are in there 40's. They found this place with just 2 other homes connected. Right now they live in this house that is too close the highway, and it dips down under the highway so is dangerous. This condo they found in foreclosure so they got a good deal on it. They both work so hard I am just so happy for them.

    Have a good day everyone.
