So what is everyone doing today? I will be working on some embroidered quilt squares. Last night went to my first horse race. Got to see Pat Green in concert and watch some fire works. Had a great time.
Still waiting to hear about a job.

Cindy, I hope you get a job very soon.
It's too hot here to do anything outdoors. I went and worked in my garden early this morning. Picked a few green beans. Maybe enough for a meal. We are going to a movie this afternoon. My daughter and I will see Magic Mike and hubby will see Ted. Too bad there isn't one we can all agree on.

i am adding borders to a tumbler quilt. i am using pale pink and aqua for the borders since the quilt has lots of color. i warn you ahead of time, i will post pictures so you'll want to have your sunglasses at your side! i get migraines from bright light--like the light reflected off a shiny part of a car, or a flash of light-- so i've had to be very careful handling this quilt!lol. not laughing at the migraines, i promise. i have had them since i was 13, way long ago! some are disabling, and some are almost like a normal headache and i can continue whatever i was doing, but with limited head movement. i have had several that mimic a stroke, and those are the hardest to deal with. i never know if i should go to the hospital or just wait for the pain to start. i usually get the aura which is quite pretty, but foreboding, then i get 'swiss cheese' vision, and then slam, the pain. the second day i feel like i have a very bad hangover, and it's often worse than the original. then 48 to 24 hrs later, poof! it's gone. some i will get 3 or 4 starts in a day, the whole aura and vision thing. july has always been my toughest month with several every week. i used to take a preventative but it lowers your blood pressure and that makes me pass out. on the VERY positive side, i get fewer now, and may even make it thru july with none!
i know i'm too late to sign up, but i will follow along as you are my friends and i like to know what you're doing and be with you. so good luck to everyone! unless a miracle happens i wouldn't be much of a contender.
cindy, i am sooo jealous you got to see pat green! i love him, but he doesn't tour outside of texas very much. he was in pa a few years ago and i was right in front of him not 3 ft away. yes, i'm old and very happily married, but i still love a good singer, and he is one of the best! place in my heart for him always.

I am starting to count calories today. I've never done that in my life, but it's time to do something. Eat clean, drink water and exercise.

nancia, you can sign up if you'd like. I haven't posted the list yet. I think there is power in being part of the group even without hopes of winning. BTW, pm me your address. I didn't sign up in May because I was pouting over not losing weight, but acted like I had, so I'd like to send you a bright FQ. I'm so sorry about your headaches. I used to work in a school computer lab in the afternoon and only teach my remedial reading classes in the morning - not what I was hired for, but as you know in a school settting, nothing is constant except change. One teacher couldn't enter the lab with without starting a migraine so I took her class at the door which was not acceptable to the other teachers as they had to stay in the room with their students. I am not a certified teacher and therefore the teacher was to stay while I taught. I couldn't make them see she wasn't off playing, but doing exactly what they did - correct papers, etc, only in a different setting. Grrr. You have my sympathy and I want to see the quilt. I can't quilt today, so I'll do it vicariously through you.

Happy 4th everyone. Congratulations cdmmiracles for losing last month. I lost in June so I'm hoping that is gone for good. We ate rotisserie chicken and salad for our 4th of July dinner and will have watermelon in a little while. My week has been hectic. A rather large quilt store went out of business and closed her doors on Saturday. She donated all the remaining fabric to a non-profit. Our guild is one of two guilds meeting at that non-profit and we were asked to inventory ALL the remaining fabric for them AND to disburse it to different charity guilds in the local area. On Monday, 8 of us worked all day (9-5) counting yardage off each bolt (you know, 2 wraps equal 1 yard) by manufacturer. Then we had to move it all to the non-profit to set up for the next day when the first of 8 groups came in to receive their fabrics. It was set up for each group to get 82 bolts (that's bolts) plus I made each group a notions bag with threads, rulers, patterns and I can't remember what all. I have been so tired - and if it can be true, I'm tired of looking at fabric!!! However, that being said, today I trimmed two quilts for binding, finished 1 block on a quilt of my own and put a binding on a small wallhanger. Guess I'm not that tired of fabric after all. With all that work and tomorrow meeting the last of the groups, I haven't had time to eat - that's a good benefit out of all this. Keep cool everyone.

I lost pretty good last month So far July my weight loss is bad I am sure. I am in Hilton Head with my brother and SIL. Itis really hot but there is a nice breeze coming off of the ocean so it doesn't feel so bad. My SIL eats constantly, so of course I have been too. Tons of bad things and lots of fancy drinks. I am sure I have gained a little as my new shorts are a little snug. We have been getting a lot of exercise. There is water aerobics every morning and yoga. Yesterday we went on a 2 hour kayak trip. We went thru the salt marshes. It was nice. Today we rode our bikes about 10 miles after water aerobics. We also went on a walk along the beach. It is so easy to be lazy here they pick you up in golf carts to take you to the beach. So ice and relaxing. I have to go back to reality on Friday and will behave then. Happy 4th to all.

I had a lovely day yesterday. Glenn and I went to see Magic Mike(I had to agree to see Ted this weekend). It was a fun movie. Then I actually came home and sewed my little watercolor quilt together. I had all of the squares fused on the grid already. It turned out quite cute. I'm thinking of adding borders to make it big enough for a couch throw for Glenn's mom. Not sure though-after sewing it's only 16 X 23. My wee Gracie Allen is utterly fearless until the fireworks start. Then she likes to have her mom. I'm sure in her mind she's protecting me from the big bad fireworks. None of the other hounds even pay attention to the fireworks. Glenn gets a little jealous that she always comes to me when the noise starts.

My daughter had a lot of trouble with migraines a few years ago. The doctor sent her to a headache clinic. They suggested a caffeinated drink with Excedrin migraine. Followed by tons of Gatoraide or poweraide or something like that. Up to a gallon. They said most migraines are caused by fluid leaking out of the blood vessels in your head and all of the electrolites in the gatoraide would help to fix this. Good luck getting rid of your headaches. My migraines seem to have gone away with menopause.
