But, I totally empathize with wanting the "love of your life." I had a yellow lab that was all mine. She'd be happy with other people, but it was me she wanted to be with. Captive audience on the toilet? You betcha! She was pushing the door open and sit there to be petted.

She crawled under my sewing machine when hubby was in the shop because it upset her and she knew I was there. When she got along in years and had hip displasia and arthritis, she would pace the hall upstairs until she could no longer stand it and brave the steps to come to the sewing room.

The final straw was when she would fall the length of the stairs. It broke my heart to have to put her to sleep and I still cry (10 years later) to think of it. I want a lab so bad I can't stand it, but labs are so expensive (as are all dogs) that I haven't been able to get another. Hopefully someday.

So, all this said, I'd say, get after it and get your kitty. (Just don't let it outside to eat the song birds. :) )
Keep an eye out in Craigslist & the local papers you just might find your lab there very cheap or free. DSIL found a beautiful border collie worth almost $1000.00 & people were giving her away as they couldn't care for her anymore.

You're not crazy! (Otherwise I'd have to admit I am too!)

I agree with Esqmommy.. That said; I too, say GO FOR IT!

For those of you wanting a particular breed, check into breed rescues. That's how my sister Dawn and I got got our last three (out of four) Dobermans.

I'm not sure if it will be a boy cat or not. If so, it'd have to be a kitten because of Big Boy. Don't think he'd get along with an older male cat. Monique...I'm thinking she could care less as long as new kitty will play with her. lol

I informed hubby of what everyone said and he says....We will see.
Yup, we sure will see! We will see which one will be coming home with me! :)
Now, just gotta get off this pebble!!

I miss my Dot Girl we lost to cancer a little over a year ago.
We had gotten her for we knew our other cat was getting up in age... well she was maybe 10 years ols and we still have or Ol Snooper. I cry sometimes when I pick him up and carry him around for I know at 16 + years he is old. He has been my baby for over 16 years and I miss our Dot but when Snooper is gone we are getting to old to have another to leave for someone else to take care of because I spoil my cat ROTTEN, BIG smile... Husband has just retired and we'd like to take off so will not have to worrie about a babysitter to come feed animals. But I will love all your cats....

In my experience 'we'll see' means yes! Ask my kids!

And if I were a cat, I wouldn't mind being owned by you, crazy as you are! So you OWE it to catdom to have at least another one, if not more! Besides, by the time you get to Virginia and move Rosie and Mortimer in, another kitty will make no difference at all!

Exactly!
Oh, you forgot about a cute little pup that you have too! He told me that he wants to come to the good ole U S of A. So, just make sure he has his suitcase packed when I come to visit!
Guess I better start looking for a bigger house, huh? lol
