I 100% agree that seeing a specialist is a requirement for treating carpal tunnel syndrome.

I had carpal tunnel that was initially brought on when I worked and did a lot of typing without a support for my wrists at the keyboard or mouse. It got worse after I built a rock garden. My chiropractor worked on my wrists and neck with electro therapy and I slept with wrist braces for a while. Problem solved and it hasn't been back since unlike a couple of friends who had surgery.

Was a cashier for many years. Had carpal tunnel in both hands, had surgery on both and have not had any problems, for many years now. Had mine done when I could not sleep. I feel for you,it is very painful.

First off, I would make sure it is carpal tunnel with second opinion etc., as it turns out that my 'carpal tunnel' is actually ulna nerve problem in both hands and I've been advised that operations for this particular problem are rarely successful. The little finger and second last finger on each hand remains numb with excruciating pain hitting them sometimes without warning.Hope you have success with your treatment and therapy.

I had the problem and tried everything. I wore a brace, physical therapy, etc.etc.etc. I did not want to do the surgery so the Dr. gave me a Cortisone shot to the wrist. By the next day the pain was gone and that was the end of that. I know people think that Cortison shots are painful to receive, but let me tell you, it was worth it to get rid of the pain in my wrist. BTW the shot was not all that bad. Just felt like a big pinch.....

I had the same thing. I am an admin. asst. and did nothing but type. Had surgery in 1996 on my right hand (I'm right handed) and everything I did made it hurt. It was the hand that hurt the most. Then I had surgery on my left hand in 2008 when it got so bad I couldn't stand it. They can do tests to tell you had bad it is. I have no problems at all now and would do it over in a heart beat. It was the best thing for me. You really should see a specialist and be tested and go from there. Best of luck to you.
