I like to buy my magazines at thrift stores/yard sales. They are usually 25 cents. So if I don't really like it, I'm not out much money. I will donate it back or try to sell it at my yard sale.
I like the ones, though, that have FULL size patterns.

Not a magazine but I love Quilters Club of America. It comes with lots of free patterns, groups, vendor info and a subscription to EasyQuilts. I also subscribe to Fons and Porter as they have great direction and extra support online. Occasionally I pick up a qilting magazine from Joanns if they are on sale. I used to get McCalls, but decided to downsize my magazine stash. It can get pretty unwieldy after a while.

My favorite is Australian Patchwork and Quilting. I found it in a LQS and love it. It has many patterns and lots of good info.I also like that it has different patterns than I see around here. Don't have a subscription yet because I am still searching for a good price. It get very expensive when they add the shipping. SO far it is cheaper to purchase it from the LQS.

Ever since Mark Lipinski took over Fabric Trends, I have really enjoyed the magazine. It's more of a reference than a magazine and in the back you can see next season's upcoming fabrics. Plus he is so irreverent and funny!! Good patterns, good quilts, good read.

I don't buy new quilt magazines. I can find enough at the library or yard sales.

After many years of having subscriptions to the popular magazines on the market here in America I stopped all of them. They were either just the same quilts made with the latest fabric 'collections' or full of advertising. Now I buy ones that have patterns or articles I want to read. I will NOT buy Fons & Porter because they are plastic wrapped. Shame on you, F&P for endorsing this waste of plastic and why should I buy 'blind'? My favorites right now are 'Irish Quilting' and two Austrailian publications: 'Handmade' and Austrailian Patchwork and Quilting'. Always something different, interesting and not same old/same old.

Still being relatively new to quilting, I haven't chosen a favorite, but certainly have a complaint. I recently (April) responded to a "deal" from Love of Quilting -- one year for $14.97 plus four free gifts. They charged my credit card $18.97, not $14.97 and the only "free" gift I have received is one PDF pattern that I could print at my expense. My mistake, I thought Fons & Porter were reputable. I finally received my first issue last week, no free gifts and I am getting no where calling or emailing them. Live and learn? I have learned to not even look at their notions display at JoAnn's.

American Patchwork and their Quilt Sampler and Quilts and More.
I have always found a multitude of patterns to please my taste.
One subscription and two are purchased at stores.

Over the years, I've subscribed to and enjoyed most of them. I suppose Quilters Newsletter is probably my all time favorite but McCalls and Quiltworld are up there as well. For the past few years, the content seems to be getting thinner in all magazines, and I find that very few of the designs appeal to me. Kaffe Fasset fabrics, which I really don't care for, dominate the pages, and that makes them unappealing so I've let all my subscriptions lapse and probably won't renew. As someone else observed, the prices are ridiculously high and there are always copies available second-hand in a dozen places or the library. Frankly, I'd rather spend the money on fabric.
