Yes you are probably Spoiled. But that’s not a bad thing. Of course buying the latest gadgets might not improve your skills. An ex girlfriend introduced me to a rotary cutter and I’m a definitely a fan. I’m still lacking in skills but I know people have sewing for along time and produced beautiful quilts at home.

I'm a spoiled quilter too! I buy what I want, when, or if I need it. We also believe debt is a dreaded word, and is not part of our lives. We're both retired and worked long and hard to get where we are, and planned accordingly for this time. I love clothes/accessories, but also love the thrill of the hunt, buying things on sale, clearance, or with coupons. I just bought an $80 leather purse on sale for $10.99, and a $48 top for $4.99!

Guess we're quite a club - spoiled quilters and proud of it. I noticed the other day that our towels are over 20 years old, as are some of the tops I've been wearing. That's OK - my stash stays at a stable size since I use as much as I buy. Retirement is bliss.

While I've never paid $100 for a quilt kit I could do so. My husband and I are not super rich, but we are more than o.k... therefore if I see fabric or patterns, or templates that I want I do buy them. Having said that, it comes out of MY retirement and social security not his. House and cars are paid off and so we each can spend on our "hobbies".

I am not spoiled, we both worked hard for our retirement. We deserve to spend money on our hobbies and whatever else we feel like. We have no debt, we pay off our credit card every month. We are not flashy people, do not go out to eat like many of our friends do several times a week. We go out maybe 2-3 times a year. We buy clothing, shoes, etc., but not from Nordstroms, more like Macy's or Kohl's. I color my own hair, no fake fingernails, I do wear make-up and use good skin products and sunscreen. We live in FL, play golf, swim, go to the gym in our 55+ community. So many activities, clubs, etc., to do here we don't need to leave the community. We live in a golf cart community so we have 2 golf carts and only one car. We really love our life and financial freedom.

I amdefinitely a "spoiled" quilter. My DH worked very hard over the years so we could have a decent retirement. He left me comfortable that I can buy what I want when I want if I want. I have top of the line sewing machines, a long arm for my own and my friends' use, and all the latest rulers/templates. A few weeks ago my DS was here, and I commented that I would like to put new siding on the house, his comment was, "Buy a new sewing machine instead, Mom. You will get more enjoyment out of that than new siding on the house." I think I'll keep this "boy", he knows what is important to me. My CC are paid off monthly, never made a car payment, and haven't made a house payment since we first got married.

DH has saved us thousands by doing our repairs himself. He likes to eat out but he’s starting to agree with me it’s often a rip off. Vacations have been by car with a camp stove & a cooler of food unless we see an interesting restaurant to try. We enjoy eating at a park with a beautiful view more than dropping money on a plate of fries.
No mortgage, carry no credit card balance, no car loans. Pickup is new, car is 12 years old & hasn’t cost us anything in repair so no plans to replace it. I use simple cosmetics from a department store but it lasts long. I buy new good quality shoes & underthings because they last long. I get complements on my thrift store clothes - probably because I know what colors look best on me & I only buy good brands that fit & wash better.
It’s not hard for us to live economical and still have everything we need. I can see others here think along the same line.
