Breakfast and the Formula 1 race are both over. Dusty had to go to work today (he wasn't scheduled for his first day at his new job until Monday and he's already picked up 2 extra shifts!) My boyfriend has lots of grading to do. Oh, and the allergies are in full force & it's raining out. Sounds like a good day to sew, doesn't it?

I hope to get this runner done today if I can stay focused. I need to throw together a wallet for my best friend before next Saturday, so I may have to break off & do that if I get close on time. I have another side runner swap going & decided on that design yesterday, so I need to try to get it at least cut today too & see if I'm missing anything. Joann has FQ's for $.99 this week, so a trip to Montgomery during the week or Columbus next weekend is in order. I only have the FQ's for this swap in batiks, so I definitely have to get some for the batik block swap. I love batiks, but am only willing to pay for them when I'm going to use them immediately. Yep, I'm cheap like that!

JuneBillie, there really is no pattern for the topper. I use the 60 degree ruler and put them together - viola, a table topper. I sew it envelope style, turn, get those corners out and sew close to edge and in the ditch for my quilting. Done. Here is my tropical topper ready to send to my partner tomorrow. Do you remember who you are?

I vote for a combination! I'd pull the two with the flowers and the green with the flower imprint, and put them with the yellow and/or blue from the other group. That's just me though!

I'm having issues here too. I got my top done and got ready to make the back, only to notice that the backing fabric doesn't have the color I'd chosen to go with the other fabrics on the front. I'd bought all the batiks before I bought the solid color to go with them & didn't even realize when I decided on a color that the backing wouldn't go with it. Sigh.....the back may end up the solid color as well. I'm just too flustered to do it at the moment, so I'm taking a break to have some Reese's eggs while I sulk over it.

OH I was thinking the same thing the two end PRINTS and one to three of the other solid/marbles based on what your pattern calls for quiltingkrazy. I love them all its ok to make one for ME! oh if you were my partner then we are all set, maybe I am maybe I am not.. gosh no one will know.. secrets secrets!

dustysmomma you just arent ever going to be a hoarder thats all when it comes to fabric shopping. if you have a need you go buy it. I buy it anticipating a need. most of the time it works for me especially with blenders. If you do a boom swap you will understand how absolutely necessary it is to have an assortment of blenders when you get requests use only whats in the fabric! or use only blue or black or white or red.. you had best have them the rest I anticipate with hope I can use them and novelties I buy for a certain swap as or anticipated fq swap. seasonal is always in for those so you can buy after season non HOT COLORS but traditional ones and never lose. You know how like last year was all about lime or that goofy green even with Christmas now this year it will be some other combo? those re not the fabrics I buy in quanity. no way. out of style in a NY second. yikes! novelty seems to go year to year on goofy things just not stuff like sponge bob etc.. that is as what is top 10 tv/kids at any given time. nope. owls are already out or going out.. phew did not stock up on owls. chickens always in. see?

reeses eggs? oh dear that is a stomach ache not a solution Dustysmomma! dont do it! stop! quit while your well!

I finished my top minus one round of final color. love it. bold bright and well now for runner top three to round things out. My next one will be margarita glasses, party parrots, surf boards and well goofy s..t. Should be a happy quilt. thinking crazy quilt style? drunk birds need crazy style in theory in my simple minds eye.. I did a big 14" old star bear claw design lol not sure wht it is but with florals its sorta a spiked flower not a bear claw (ah to be me right?).. lots of little pieces. ready for an easier but still nice design. for party parrots and margaritas what block design would YOU use? one of these is for the swap one is for my 21 yr old baker girl. oh here is her current photo.. is she just a tiny bit goofy like her momma is? just a tad? love the hat

My runner is done except finishing the quilting, my least favorite part, lol. I showed my boyfriend my dilemma and he said "It's orange right there." That was good enough for me! Took a break to have some jelly belly & check in here before I quilt though. Reese's doesn't give a bellyache, ever!!! This Easter candy must hurry up & get out of my house though, before I turn into a house!

Yeah, I am a hoarder Elisabrat. That's why I have to pace myself. When I sold my house and put all my stuff into storage, my boyfriend talked me into dumping 2-1/2 pickup trucks full of crap. I'd lived in that house for 10 years, 9 of those married to a man who liked a full, cozy house, and I was moving in with a man who thinks that the less you can see of our stuff, the better, and putting basically everything I owned except clothes into storage. I pulled a bag of stuff out of storage the last time I was there & found a handful of straw wreaths, several spools of ribbon & about 5 yards of fabric. Oh yeah, I remember that. That was for the wreaths I made & sold about 8-9 years ago at the harvest festival at Dusty's school. Ooh look, a screwdriver....hmm, that's my ex's....oh Dusty!

I get the hoarding genetically though, I believe. My gramma moved in this brand new apt building when they finished building it & she lived there until she went into long term care, probably 15+ years later. When she moved in, the apt was sparsely furnished with what little her kids hadn't talked her into getting rid of. All the keepsake stuff was either in a closet or hung on the walls. By the time they emptied her apt, there was still room to walk comfortably, but mother said every wall was piled with things she figured she'd need for something later. She could make a craft out of anything, and if she'd ever seen an interesting craft made out of it, it wasn't trash & needed to go home with her. When I was there for my oldest half-brother's funeral, Dusty was 3-1/2 months old. The pack of wipes I was using ran out and mother threw it in the trash compactor and ran it before she got there so she wouldn't try to take it home with her, because that was something she always collected to put her other collections in. Gramma never took a to go box home from a restaurant though. She always had a collection of washed and ready to reuse ziploc bags in her purse. I don't think I'll ever get to that point, but I do have to watch myself or I'll take home that last 3 bites of sushi thinking it could be part of lunch for tomorrow!
