Well, I'm up and about. Really didn't have a bad night - only took 1 pain pill. Up more because I was hungry - had had an upset stomach from the surgery and didn't eat dinner before I went to bed. Got up at 3 a.m. and had 2 graham crackers and 1/2 of a protein drink. That hit the spot, but it was getting close to time to normally get up anyway, so only slept for about another hour or so after that. I'll slide down the stairs on tush today to play with fabrics. Pulling for 2 runners (one nameless and the other patriotic {my very favorite}) Have a luncheon today, so have my beans reheating. Did lotsa cooking for the weekend on Thyursday before I had the surgery - otherwise hubby would want to go out every meal. He used to cook, don't know why he won't anymore. Anyway, cooked the green beans with beef pieces and potatoes, a pork roast in onion soup and a chicken mixture (rice and veggies) for the weekend. At least I'll know what my choices are for the meals. Well, off to get somehing to eat and then down the stairs I go.
Take care ereryone and hope our names are out soon

OK, I've gone & dug out the bag of whimsy of which I speak, and here you go! The fabric at the bottom wasn't originally in the group, but I just got it from the boyfriend's trip to Denmark for his nephew's christening and I couldn't help but think it belongs too!

You can't see it, but the fabric on the far right with the squares, some have monkeys in them & others have frogs. That's what ties these fabrics together.

now thse are whimsical.. love the lady bugs. could put those on the table no trouble.. not so sure about frogs and I never ever do bugs. ok kids like bugs and worms and such. cute collection you have going there. did you see the owl quilt I posted in your swap dustysmom? owl quilt idea for your owl quilt fans across the ocean

whimsical in my house would be the running chickens I suppose and perhaps cats with hearts? or smiling snowmen. no more bugs phew.. oh I have a smiling turtle f4.. then fresh out. oodles of poinsetta pieces I was just gifted. I am NOT into poinsettas for some reason they remind me of being.. really old. think I associate them with a grandmother who was horribly sick all her life (NOT) and was a miserable person. she loved poinsettas. ugh. wouldnt you know she lived a long healthy life in spite of herself. so if you happen to love poinsettas I can make you a heck of a table runner with them and we can call it Christmas in Spring! so we get that spring part of the tablerunner thing in there.

Elisabrat - frogs, bugs, worms oh my!!! The whimsy in all of that is there are frog legs to feast on, chocolate covered bugs for dessert and worms for a snack - see they all fit on your table. I love chickens, for a while I collected them and had them all over the kitchen and dining room - more the primative country type; when we repainted most of my poor chickens had their feathers plucked and now reside in the basement. I have a box of flannel fabrics packed away somewhere - it's a kit to make one of those rag quilts and I haven't learned how to do that technique. Friend Judi made 27 pillow cases out of very whimsy fabrics this past Christmas for all her siblings, nieces and nephews; it's a great place to use that sort of fabric.

Dabbler, you forgot the monkeys, lol!

This grouping would have been perfect for the little girl they were bought for. She's got girly a pirates comforter right now, and before that she had a beautiful satin floral comforter that had hand appliqued bugs all over it. That was the first one she ruined with a black sharpie. Lisa can't figure out how she keeps getting hold of the sharpies either, since she's 4 and Lisa keeps the sharpies on top of their really tall fridge. She can't reach from the kitchen chair and it's not next to a counter top. I've wondered if she didn't snag them from grandma's!

Anyway, I was going to use the black monkeys for a narrow band around the outside of the main body of the quilt, then use the squares one for backing and a couple accent pieces to tie it all together. Guess it'll wait now though. If I make it and give it to her, even if Lisa puts it away, she's worried she'll plunder it out and mess it up, so she asked me to wait until she's over this phase. I have this beautiful roll of expensive girly duck canvas (that I got 9 yards of for $15 on an online yard sale) that I was going to make some accent pieces out of for her too, but that's also on hold.

But, maybe I'll get lucky and someone will fall in love with my whimsy collection, lol. Otherwise, it's fabric shopping time, and it's going to be really hard to stay on the fabric buying moratorium if I go fabric shopping!

DustysMomma- I love all the whimsy fabrics. Boy are they calling out (at least to me) to be made into a child's quilt..all of them..all mixed up in blocks of every kind.
Brat...I am a 'nice' person and I like poinsettias. I have one table runner I made with pink ones and I love it. Wil send a pic if any of you want to see it.
Dab, the rag quilts are easy to make. It really helps to have a good pair of scissors tho. And when you get started, I would recommend to snip a little bit each section instead of having to do it all at once. Sounds like a warm, cuddlly project to me. :-) And pillowcases out of the whimsy fabric is a super idea, too.
I took sneak peek pic of my TR so need to download and crop it and then will post here. Of course, sometime today will include clearing the snow off all the walks and driveways. I am so enjoying getting to know all of you. :-)
