Are you fibbin' to me Fraew? 2nd one you did, absolutely amazing. Looks pretty perfect to me right down to his little spectacles, it is soooo cute. I'm getting inspired but the stomach has alot of fluttering butterflies going round and round

No joke...I ordered my thread over the July 4th week. It arrived the following week and I finished Santa (quilting and all) on the 19th! And yes, I had butterflies too. But clearly not rocket science...so bid those butterflies fair well and jump in the deep end with us. It's nice and warm.

Moonrise those blocks are beautiful! You girls and your fancy machines!!!! I am so so glad your playing!! I love all the embroidery blocks and they add so much to a quilt. I know you say the machine does all the work but I think you are not taking enough credit. Your search for the perfect patterns, all the thread changes, knowing how to do all that and the time it takes to do it all add up to some gorgeous blocks! You all are making it quite hard for me to resist buying an embroidery machine for myself!
Welcome to all the new swappers!

Wow, thanks, y'all!
Sure, I'll be glad to. PM me your address and I'll pop one in the mail to you. What a wonderful memory! (I tried ice skating once. Let's just say that I polished the whole skating rink with my backside! LOL!)
Hey Moonrise... I hope this is not out of the box. But, that block with Ice Skates, how much would you charge me to make one? So many swappers and only one Ice Skates block... It reminded me immediately of my mom, she loved to ice skate, and she was the only girl in the family, on her birthday after she was married and expecting her first child, her uncle asked her what she wanted, she said "Ice Skates" and he got them for her. I still have them. I am going to put new ribbon in them and put them by my fireplace this Christmas. I would love to have one of those blocks to put in my Christmas quilt I am making. Would you consider allowing me to purchase one? Help a girl carry on a precious memory of her mother.

I started working with my machine early this summer, it is easy. The hard part is picking out the patterns and not spending the whole day looking through the books! But don't forget the free patterns, there are lots of free patterns available. I have my desk set up in a u shape my good ole' sewing machine Nellie is right next to my new fancy Greta and on the other side is iron board/lap top. When time to change thread I just turn and change and let greta do the rest. I have found the secret is in the stabilizer. You have to have the right one for the right fabric. and ALWAYS use a bobbin thread that is made for Embroidery bobbin. You won't fight your machine as much if you do that.
I really kick myself for waiting so long to use the machine. I bought her in Nov 07, retired in Jan 08 and started using her big time in June of 12... I could have made a lot of really cool things in that amount of time.
My GF who bought her Bernina Artista in 2001 has never used it after her classes ended. We just found out today that the technology is obsolete. She has the Magic Box that has to be used with a 32 bit system, well there is nothing being made with the 32 bit system. So she has to find a really old computer to be able to update her Embroidery patterns. I am working on it with her, I think I found an old computer that will work, the whole computer is selling for $25.00 on Craigs list! The one good thing about having an outdated system is the things you find to run it are pretty cheap!

MaryT if you can't find computer let me know, I've got a couple or three downstairs. Actually I have an old dell laptop with win98 I bet would work. Let me know would be glad to get rid of them. There is just no place here to recycle so downstairs they go in the storage room. They won't let you take them to the dump. Even have the big old monitors for each system, all the books and cd's. Very cheap, but I need postage fee.

Okay girls, here's another finished set. These blocks are 6 1/2" x 9 1/2". I'm trying to get a variety of sizes. Hope you like them. I will include 3 red buttons in a bag, but just am showing what one looks like in the picture. The face has been painted on with fabric paint.

But, I do have a question, two of my blocks have a ribbon to attach, I was wondering if I needed to pin it to each block or just put all five of them in the baggie with the blocks?
PS... also, I want green buttons.
