I got the last fabric for the crazy quilt It is an everygreen velvet. Now the question is do I do the embroidery on the pieces before I cut them and put them on the quilt or after?

TK: I would do them before for a couple of reasons. If something goes wrong and the embroidery machine eats your fabric its a lot better then the whole quilt and its a lot easier to deal with a small piece of fabric then a large quilt.

I had a close call. I must confess. My LQS is having a 1/2 price fabric sale on everything..... So ignoring that voice that told me "you have enough" I got in my car and drove to the LQS. I pulled into the parking lot...and saw a long line to get in ( and the store had been open for 45minutes) , and said to myself "this is a sign" "you don't need anything to wait in a line that long". I drove home happy I did not give in , but wonder .... If there had been no long line..... what might have happened?

Good job, Lori, on being strong. I know I would have had a problem not getting in line after driving all that way.

I'm currently spending money on getting 3 quilt tops quilted for 3 friends and saving for a Bus trip in October. So no extra money for buying fabric right now. But just wait until October on my trip. No extra buying right now. So I'm staying away from my LQS.

Happy shopping from your stash everyone.

WTG. Lori....that's the kind of reasoning we need to use..so what if the long line convinced you to abstain....it was meant to be...

Good luck with the willpower happylab

It is hand embroidery so I don't have to worry about the machine eating it. And I would have to leave the pieces on the original piece of fabric for it to be large enough to fit in my hoop. Would doing it before I sew it to the foundation piece still be a good idea?

I cut my monkey fabric into charms and started on the puff pieces. That will not be as much fun as I had hoped for.

Well I never made it to even one of the Shops on the Quilt shop rally. So I didn't spend oodles on fabric. But I'm kind of disappointed.

There is always next time, or a little trip, or the internet, or a sales catalog, or......
