What is it with using up scraps, you always need a big piece of background fabric to do it?

I want to do a scrappy kite quilt with the kites & edges all same dark blue. Had to (wink, wink) buy 8 yds navy. Well, I knew I needed more than 5 yards, and I'm getting tired of buying 5 yds, doing the calculations, and being short a yard, so I bought extra.

Also bought yellow background for Bonnie Hunter's Florabunda.

Thanks - the quilting turned out a little puffy (new technique) but I figured it will still keep someone warm (donation quilt)

I am thinking about making a fidget quilt for my mom's neighbor. I saw him when I was back in Germany on vacation. The poor man has advanced Alzheimer's. So I may have to pick up some bits and bobs.

I have thought about trying one too. Think that would be a great idea for donations. Such nice ones here on the board. I've also seen several tutorials or blogs elsewhere as well. Look forward to seeing it if you decide to do one Martina. You do such fantastic quilts.
