My goal for 2017 is to only use from my stash. If it's not there, then I don't make that particular quilt. Even if I sewed a quilt top a week, I don't think I could use my stash before I die unless I live to be 100. So no more fabric purchases for me before December 2017. If I need batting or thread, I will purchase that, but no fabric.
hey, Belfrybat...I guess your out buying fabric, lol

A few weeks ago, my niece and her husband came to my house so I could take them to the airport the next morning. Not a big deal as long as I vacuumed thoroughly for her husband’s cat allergy except...her uncle (my BIL) and his wife were bringing them to my house so I scrambled to make the house a little more presentable as my BIL’s wife keeps a very neat house. We had a great visit and that’s what counts. (At least that’s what I tell myself. ). Lol!

Here is another quilt I made from 9” squares. I actually cut them down to 8.5” because they were cut unevenly and it was easier to run them through the die cutter. This top will be given to my church quilters to finish for Salvation Army. We are getting close to 6000 quilts donated to them.

Connie
Wow...6000...that's fabulous!

That was great luck Leta finding out of change in plans before the moving of everything.
I'm sorry to hear about your friend Martina. Your quilt will be bring a smile and comfort when needed I'm sure.
Connie love your quilt top color placement. 6000 quilts is inspiring WOW.
Well I fell and pretty hard too. Even Black Friday sales I got through fairly well. I answered the Connecting Threads siren song.
However yesterday I made the mistake of looking at email sales and fell. 4 different fabrics for 5 yards. With hubby retiring (90% certain) the beginning of the year, I've found myself purchasing (or stashing) things like rotary blades, needles, and spools of neutral threads and some batting. Since this journey will be new for us and if money does get tight, l know hobbies will be the first things to go (though I can eat a lot of sandwiches to continue quilting lol).
So this morning I went through my emails and took care of sales flyers so I won"t be staring at them every time I open my mail.

elly66 your preplanning buys sound like a sound investment! Great idea and will think about this as my retirement date arrives next year!

Some of my stockpiling was far easier to store than others. Batting takes quite a bit of room. However thinking of retirement seemed to kick the hoarding gene into gear a little too much. Thank goodness for the moratorium or the fabric piles would have been scary.

Nope -- I haven't purchased any more fabric since my fall from grace in mid November! (She says with great pride while looking at the new sales flyer from JoAnns).

But I have been stripping away and making up quilt "kits" from the strips and FQs. So far I'm up to 5 quilt kits and want to make up at least a dozen by mid January. I am trying to start a prayer quilt ministry at church and figure if I can make up kits all ready to be sewn it will be easier on folks.

I can stay out of the stores, I can delete those tempting emails telling me about sales, but I just can't stay out of the thrift stores! Yesterday there were about 20 1 yard cuts of a beautiful LQS fabric in a poinsettia design. With metallic accents. Looks like they were used for table coverings for a party as the edges were hemmed with a fusible. $0.65 each. There's no way I could pass that up. I only got 4 yards, which I think showed great restraint.

WOW PaperPrincess nice score. Definitely harder to resist than my temptations. I might even stay strong for sale emails if my thrift stores had those finds.
