MacyBaby the blue in lieu of gray looks great! Can't believe you have it all put together!!

sunlitensmiles, ours look almost identical---imagine that!!

and yes, I am debating the scalloped border. Never done one, never cut bias binding for that matter! If I have the patience, I think I am going to try it---no time like the present and I did this quilt to learn new skills----but I just didn't realize there would be so many of them!!!

my first attempt at a wavy/scalloped border was on a doll quilt in the appplecore pattern...I did not want to trim the edge apple cores into a straight line so decided to just cut some bias strips and 'go for it' ....it turned out just fine, and was really not that different from a regular rectangular quilt. BTW the scallops were much closer together than these will be.
So the moral of this story is (giggle) if you want a scalloped edge ""Just do it"" (giggle)

I'm loving all the variations of this quilt! All the colors are great. What a fantastic mystery!

Pretty sure I'm going to opt out of the scallops. I've never done them and have always wanted to but think I will go for a wider final border. Make it a bit bigger without making more blocks.

I've got about half my blocks constructed--a cold has slowed me down. I love seeing all your pictures.

No, not yet. Maybe tomorrow.

I really like this quilt in the dark reds and golds. Jeanne S and Sandra P, beautiful!! I like the nice, clean look.

Love your quilt, Periwink! It's so cheery and happy in those colors, with just enough scrappiness to make it dance!

I popped into JoAnn's today (because they zapped me a 60% off coupon on my phone!) and lo and behold they had their Red Tag closeout fabrics 50% off. I found three really pretty black prints in there for what ended up being $3 a yard so I bought two yds each of three of them. Might use one for the border (or not) and make shirts for myself out of the others.

Macybaby...you must have a Davis vertical feed....( or two or even three ) ....so.....are you going to use it for attaching the binding?

How do you sew the 4 pieces of the setting triangle pieces together????? I am thinking to do it this way, let me know if there is a better way---
1. Sew the short side of one of the long rectangles to the small 4 patch unit.
2. Sew one side of the triangle to the side of a second long rectangle piece.
3. Sew 1 and 2 together, matching the outside edges.

i did not see any instructions from Bonnie on this.

Boy, I'm with you, Terry. I felt kind of blindsided when I read the directions for the final cutting step. I had to go to my stash to look for yardage for the gold and black. I had been using fat quarters for the quilt, so nothing was big enough. Luckily, I was able to find pieces that will work. I haven't started the last cutting and sewing, because we had our Christmas on New Year's Day. We had to postpone our celebration due to our kids' work schedules. I'm not quite recovered from all the clean-up following the big day. I'm impressed with all the progress pictures I've seen. This is a really pretty quilt!
