Wow... such gorgeous things have been posted today!! Love all the beautiful tops, backs and blocks! Beautiful work.

I got my Double Irish Stars quilt laid out on my design wall... as far as the BOWs we have completed. Only two more weeks and it will be done! The blocks are rather compressed, as they are bigger than my design wall.

I also finished this lap quilt for donation today. A friend on the board gave me these blocks she got in a swap.

Thank you. It was part of a memorial quilt I made for one of my relatives who lost her son. It was a quilt along by Jacquelynne Steves called Maggie’s First Dance.
    Hardest quilt I ever made.

I've been at quilt festival all weekend so I'm just getting caught up with what everyone else has been doing. I love all your projects! Rob, I'm glad you're feeling better and I hope the docs find out what is wrong. Sewbizgirl, I love your blocks so far. I can hardly wait to see the finished product.

Spent over an hour trying to find out why something did not fit. Finally after getting some sleep, I saw the problem this a.m. There were two flying geese back to back in the middle of the block. The sizes of the pieces were the same but out of different fabrics, except one fabric was repeated.

I got the sizes and the fabrics mixed up and sewed the wrong ones together.

I'm hoping the BHMQ uses some strings so I can sew all this together and be done with it. The colors will fit.

It always does me some good to figure out what went wrong.

The date in the first post says until the 11th, but I know I will be working away in my quilting room on and off today, and would enjoy checking back on this post to see if anyone else has shown us their projects.

Thanks again for hosting this Raggiemom, I love hearing about and seeing what everyone is doing.

Had problems uploading the full picture, not sure why, so only have the close up of the S block.

Here's the alphabet lap quilt top, when I quilt it down I will put outline block letters for each letter in the squares and then a simple meander in the border. With 26 letters, it works very well to add in spacer blocks in the ABC and XYZ rows making it 5x6 blocks. Usually I use an alpha or number scatter but in this case I used books. I use 8" finished sized blocks, obviously it can be easily made smaller or larger, with or without sashing etc. Some letters are harder to find than others, N was difficult for me. In this quilt I used "nests" but I also have "nutcrackers" and there is a realistic mixed nut fabric out now that I am tempted to buy! My friend's name is Suzan, so S is Super Suzan with Stars in the corners (she likes stars and metallic prints), the close up picture shows the photoshopped block. Normally C is for Cat, but she isn't a cat person so I used crayons. The border fabric was one of my thrift store finds and I didn't have enough yardage to miter the corners but the pencils I already had in my stash worked well.
