My DH is also an enabler. We went on a road trip couple years back and he detoured a couple of hours to take me by Marshalls. I bought over 40 yards of fabric and he asked me if I was sure I had enough because it might be a while before we come that way again. (He was serious, not sarcastic!)
He also has an expensive hobby - I have a long ways to go to catch up!

"I just read this to my hubby.. He wondered why you all would have to hide it??"
I'm with your husband. I don't get it either.
Disclaimer: I do not now have a husband, dear or otherwise. Once upon a time I did have one who thought because he worked outside the home and I stayed home to raise kids the money was all his. Can't imagine why we divorced.... And I still would never hide any purchase from him.

Same here and he'll go to the fabric store with me and help me find things :)

My husband knows I love to shop and go to quilt shops. He sees the bags come in. I just don't announce what it cost. He doesn't really care. I take care of the bills and they are always paid.
I was working part time and used to say it was my fabric money, now I quit, but I still spend for fabric. LOL
We have been married over 50 years and he supports my love of sewing even when I give all the completed projects away.

My DH is a woodworker, he collects chips, blocks, chunks, squares, scraps, etc. of wood like I collect fabric so he totally "gets it". We're each hoping we'll go first so we won't have to deal with the other's stash.

Hahahaha I totally can understand your post and the way you feel about "hiding" your purchases. I don't necessarily hide anything on purpose from my Husband really, but I don't always advertise it if I just spent $50 on fabric! LOL* To be honest he really wouldn't care. But I guess sometimes I feel guilty spending money on myself. I actually went to Jo-Anns this evening just to buy batting and ended up spending almost $40. I felt so bad about it, and actually told my Husband that I had gone overboard at the fabric store and felt guilty and he says, "don't worry about it, you deserve it." ;) Lol* I'm a lucky girl :)

Oh yes! Been there, done that. In fact, today I just picked up a featherweight that was advertised on Craig's List, and he knows nothing about it!! hehehe Some day I'll have to tell him, but not yet!
