DSIL was looking for a machine for 8 year old DGD to learn to sew on and found a Necci 503FA at a local thrift shop for $15. We need a manual for it. Does anyone know where that could be found. Also, wonder if you could give me a little background on this machine. thanks.

Does anyone know if the motor for a 201-2 can be put on a model 15 singer? I'm making a frankenmachine with stuff I have at home?

Yes, Unless that machine's motor is meant for European electricity. My 201-3 came with that type of motor, and it sits in my box of motors for now.

Frankenmachines are fun! I took a spoke wheel off one machine to put on my 15-90 so that it could be used in a treadle. After that I learned here from Purplefiend that I didn't need to change the wheel. She talked about her 237 that she uses in a treadle. From her sharing this bit of information, I realized my 201-3 could be used in a treadle with the wheel that it came with.

Try searching online. Many manuals can be downloaded for free or little.

Yesterday, DH and I found an old Singer in a nice bentwood case. The electrics on the Singer are shot, so I'm going to put my Red Eye HC in the case and save the old one for parts.

15-88 no motor or handcrank
15-89 handcrank
15-90 belted (external)motor
15-91 built-in motor (potted)


And here is the information for the 201s:
201-1 is an original treadle
201-2 has the "potted motor"
201-3 has an external motor
201-4 is an original handcrank

Are you able to get a lower price because of flaws in the machine/treadle/cabinet? If not that, then how?

Nancy, You got a white FW for $250! That is excellent! All the blacks I have seen around the Bay area on CLs go for $250 on up, with most being around $350. I saw a beautiful black (don't know what #) in an antique store this weekend for $450. Lucky girl!

Would you pay $100 for a FW that doesn't run? Seller says he's "tried everything I can think of" to get the thing going. Don't know if that includes replacing the motor. What else besides a dead motor or bad connection could be the problem?
