I even read the manual and it states nothing about an on off switch. It's a really beauty with very little wear and case in very good condition. Sews like a dream!!!
The light is the on/off switch. I found this out by accident. I knew you would love the 301.

Many of them were converted when the side mounted attachment screw type machines came out, so that the machines could use the newer feet.

I knew that but I was worn out and wasnt getting the information from my head to my fingers. The 66-1 and 66- 3 were the Back Clamp models. This Idea was borrowed from the purchase of Wheeler and Wilson and the engineers at Singer axed the Back Clamp models so everything could be uniform within the parts of the machines.

With this pair of 1932 ford coupes I am building for one customer I have been cranking in the hours.

I was up for 38 hours before I went to bed this morning working on them and trying to keep up with the shop! But I will be finished before the weekend is over and then I can rest for a bit and take care of this back log of sewing machines I have over here to service.

5-91 and she runs...pretty ragged but she goes. It's missing the bobbin cover plate but I remember a previous post where you can get a thin plastic sheet from a hobby shop and cut it to fit. The bobbin winder assembly is broken also. My main question is the receptacle box there to the right of the machine...I tried several times to get a better picture but they were all dark. There is one cord plugged in which I assume has something to do with the motor. Then there is a thin cord coming out from under the bottom of the box that goes to the foot control. The cord from the opposite end has been cut off....what was it for?? Also, where do I look for a manual for this machine...are all 66's the same??
Looks like they robbed the Knee controller out of the case along with the wiring blocks that were there. I would put the knee controller back in of turn it into a handcrank one.

The bobbin plate is the same for the 66,99,185 so they are readily available at any sewing machine repair shop or a Singer dealer.

I have the entire set up for the knee controller including the knee bar and light fixture, motor, wiring and the blocks I am going to list in the for sale section of the board. If you want them then PM me and I will hook you up, in like Flint!!! And Ill toss in the bobbin plate.

    Hello All!!!!

I just wanted to give you guys a big THANK YOU for making this little old shop such a great place to come to!! I had no idea that when I started this that it would take off and run like it has.

Are you ready for some stats.......over 1400 post and over 34,000 views in only 32 days!!!!

Also do not forget to sign up for the Vintage Sewing Machine Virtual Section if you have not already. I set it up to where you can add content to the section so we can all find the vintage sewing related topics in one area. And after doing this when you sign on it will have its own section of the board on your home page.

Since this is getting pretty big I am thinking about assigning another manager for the section to help me with everything. Maybe if things keep going like it is now we will have a vintage section that is like the rest of the board. But I want to wait a bit before I present it to the Admin until we have some good solid figures. But I will say that this has been the most fun thread being able to see all of these neat beauties you guys keep coming in the shop with.

I will be posting 2 more tutorials to the series this weekend. I bet some of you are getting ready to start putting these machines together by now and we need to cover the electrical!!! That will be another one on top of the ones I am posting this weekend.

But THANK YOU again for all of your support and wonderful conversation!!! (Also thanks for all of the deserts that you guys have brought!!! And can we get some more of those Lemon Bars?????)

Well, Billy, we thank you for providing sewwwwwwwwwww much info on the machines we love. I personally don't know how you manage it all and have time for your family. Your wife and your daughter must be very delighted with the success of your Vintage Shop. I hope we get to meet them some day at the shop.

Do get the rest you need. We don't want you fading off into the sunset (unless it is on your bike!). Thanks :D :D :D

I am sure everyone will meet my family at sometime. And my wife still has no idea as to how I can go for days with out sleep and still function at a high level at that. But with me being semi retired for the past 11 years has helped a lot!

I do have a couple of paint jobs to do but there is no must have dates for these. I do have about 8 or 9 vintage machines I have to service for customers but I can knock them out relatively easily. Who knows I might have a tutorial or two in these things!!

But I am sooo looking forward to my month long trip on my new Chopper and getting to meat a bunch of you guys!!! Mid August can not get here quick enough for me!! And as soon as I have my itinerary set up we will figure out whose houses I will be staying at along the way and maybe we can set up some get togethers including other members so we can "Shop Hop" and have some quality time spent with each other.

I am always saying that everyone here in the Shop are family and when I am on this cross country trip I will be able to see my "Extended Family"!! :D :D :D
