Cute machine, Sharon!! Bobbin cases for the 301s/221s are around $30 or so, I think, so maybe the 15 won't be much more.

They generally run 4 to 5 $.

That one, at least is a very desireable Mission cabinet. It might go for $200.

In the Seattle/Tacoma area, we have an artist buying up old treadles for their bases. Snatches them up as quick as he can. He "recycles" the machine. Yes, he scraps them for metal. Why? His artwork rests on the base. "No value" in the heads.

And yes, his art, it's ugly.

OH, the light bulbs.... can they be push in type ... my had a screw in bulb?

Thanks---I'll look for a picture of your machine. So far I've only made it to page 400 of this board! Taking it a little bit at a time. I have been able to locate a few Eldredge needles at our local sewing machine shops, so I've been lucky.

thanks for the advice regarding needles---I'll try some modern needles, repositioned, and see how it goes. I've actually found a few Eldredge needles at our local sewing machine shops (sizes 14 and 16 only), so I'm lucky.

That is a beautiful machine. It appears to me to be a baged Davis or National made machine. I would start my search there. Good Luck!

Looks like it was made by Eldridge/National, right around when they changed names.

Thanks---I was thinking in the 1890 to 1915 time period as well, and the consensus from folks on this board seems to lean towards National as the manufacturer. I also think it is beautiful. I've had it for 20 years but am just getting around to looking at it closer.

It looks like a National to me too. In fact, it's a lot like my Alvah only in WAY better condition. I think your grandmother+ would be thrilled if you oiled it up and did some sewing!! I'm fixing up my MiL's 1904 New Home just for that reason. Yes, be inspired and sew![/quote]

First off there are some really nice machines that has popped up here lately and you guys are doing great at finding them. Secondly Thank You so much for helping me tend to the shop while I have all of this weather and weather related damage to deal with. You guys are the greatest!!!! While I have been absent I have added a few machines to the array I need to post about, but none of them are treadles. I know "How dare he.............." :mrgreen: These are a pair of Kenmores and they date somewhere in the 60's (havent taken the time to date them yet) and both use cams. One came fully loaded with everything including the accessories and the other had a few bits with it but both were in cabinets. Unfortunately both do not run and need a full service including replacement motors (see why I like treadles :lol: ) but should be two really nice machines.

I have a soft spot for the Kenmores because it was the machine of choice for my mom. Funny how something so small can mean so much.

I will try to check in ever so often today since we are having bad storms still. Hopefully I will have electricity...... But I have 30 something PM's to weed through and I have to get some limbs out of my yard when it stops raining.

If its a screw in bulb then a push in type will NOT work.
