I know, but I'd love to get a Pfaff HC.

How long did Singer make the 66?

Here are the production figures for you..............I love numbers!!!:P

The Model 66 American Production figures are as follows:

10-27-1902 to 2-13-1956 with 5,924,909 machines during that era.

The 66K ran from 1907 to 1940 with 2,981,388 manufactured during that stint.

The total Model 66 production from both factories totaled 8,906,297 units.

What is the difference between a 66 and a 66K? Kathie

My 201-2 arrived last night with a broken balance wheel due to inadequate packing. So I am hunting one if anyone has a spare to sell.

I will also have to get the hinges to put her in my #42 cabinet. Anybody?

She sews nicely though! And came with plenty of attachments for me to figure out LOL

I am curious though that her serial (#AE314951) indicated 1936 but she doesn't have the scroll plates. Maybe they were replaced with newer ones?
Congratulations on your 201, and so sorry to see the wheel in broken! I am curious as to the faceplate too, as the Featherweights didn't go to the striated face place until about 1947? Maybe, Singer started much earlier on the other models using that striated face plate?

Is there no cure for this terrible addiction??? :-D
Congratulations, and NO there is no cure -- you are hopeless!

Nothing, only where they were made. The Singers that have the 'K' after the model were just the ones made at the Kilbowie (not sure of spelling) factory in Scotland. The 'K' just indicates that factory.

By balance wheel, do you mean handwheel? I have several, and I hate to throw them away, so if you need one I will send it for postage. Just let me know.
Yep. Sent you a PM :-)

I don't know the year, but in the cabinet drawers there are vintage patterns dated 1926. There is the original box with the attachments. Does anyone know how I would find out the year it was made?

My friend has a vintage machine that her grandmother had and said was a Betsy Ross. Has anyone heard of that machine?

eta Do the plastic ones work so I can see how much is left????
Yes, they take the 66 bobbin. If you can find the old bobbins, use them for this machine. The clearance on this is so small that ANY irregularity will cause your machine to stop making it's usual beautiful stitch. Ray White and I spent two or three hours on mine last year, doing everything to it imaginable, only to find that the thread was hanging up on the bobbin. Live and learn. The bobbin looked fine and felt fine when I ran my fingers over it, but it was just enough to cause a poor stitch.
For those of you who don't already know, Ray White is an OSMG--an Elna repairman who now travels around the US training others to do repair on their own or other's machines. I have high praise for his classes.
