Vintagemotif I have found several parts machine(redeye) but have cleaned them up and now sewing with them. I just can't seem to break one apart to use for parts. I must be an old softie! I love the old ladies missing decals and all. They all look good when cleaned up and I just have to give them a proper home. I am really enjoying my HC. Glenn

"There's a number pressed in the metal on the bottom front of the machine (when you tilt it back from the carrying case base) which I believe is the serial number. It is 507098. My guess is that it's from the 1940's or '50's.

Other writing reads: Distributed by Necchi Elna Sewing Machine Sales USA

Champion Made in USA Universal Motion Cycles 25-75 Model 24

There is an instruction sheet in a plastic bag, along with several zipper foots (feet?), titled: "Unique Zipper Foot Assembly".

The machine looks clean and in good shape. It's very attractive with the beautiful silver detail against the black. I've never sewn with it, so can't tell you anything about how it works. The case is decent, just not as good looking as the machine itself."
That is a little pricey but the machine is a nice one indeed! i would start out around $65 and go from there I do not think I would go much over that. But Necchi is the Ferrari of the sewing machine world......

I believe you'll find this to be a Japanese machine distributed by Necchi. But as I've stated before, I could be wrong. LOL!
I think you might be right on this one because somewhere in this mess I call a studio I have some papers that has Necchi buying machines from Japan. I remember seeing their name on a manufacturers list somewhere.

I know what will happen if I keel over before I pare down the number of machines I have: They will all go to the auction up the street, Goodwill, or the curb, depending on the mood my husband or kids are in. Knowing my kids, they'll just sell the house and contents. (They use a different word than "contents"; I'll bet you all know what it is.
We know, Mz Johnny, all of our children say it. That's why I told mine to 'just sell it,' don't try to hang on to it.

I catch a little grief about the sewing machine collecting myself. When they get too rowdy, I just tell my kids, who do not sew, that I am just adding to the estate sale that they can have when I am on the other side. I also threaten to come back and haunt them if they don't keep my grandma's treadle in the family!! LOL

My mother counted my machines in 2004. At that time, she counted 100. I have slowed since then, but not stopped. My basement is beyond discription. That's all I'm going to say about that. . . . .

They say it took three dumpsters to clean my basement out when I gave up my house. Thank God there was no SM stored there. I lost my ancient in a house fire.
