The bobbin you see on the spool pin of my treadles is being used as an extra thread guide when I use the cone thread stand. It seems to help guide the thread better, I had the thread get caught around the handwheel and treadle belt wheel. OMG What a chore that was to remove all that thread. :x
I have used a bobbin filled with thread for in place of a spool of thread too.
The lighting is really bad in the living room where I have my zig zag treadle, the Singer 237. The head lamp was a
desperation type thing. lol

I have read through some of your posts just to look at your work. From your posts, I have learned some interesting things. Something so simple as the bobbin thread can be used on the top. I'm presently quilting the next project; I wanted to use red thread on top and white on bottom, but my remaining red was on a bobbin. I had never thought of setting the bobbin on top until seeing one of your posts ( it was a duh moment for me). My favorite of your tips and tricks is the headlamp over your machine for lighting. It is wonderful to find other quilters who do use their treadles and I just love this site. Sharon, I love that pinwheel quilt that you made; the fabric goes well together.

But i think they knew it was inevitable. Been crying all day, it's so hard to make that decision. I think I will get out one of my old machines and sew a little, that always helps!

So sorry for all of you who have lost your beloved pets. I am including myself in this group. Have lost too many of ours in the past and will never forget them. Still feel a lump in my throat when thinking of them which is often. I said last time I would have no more pets but when my Bunny (cat) came along on the day of my mother's funeral it seemed like it was meant to be. But she is too fat, any ideas? Weight Watches for cats? She is getting IAMS for weight control and we try to excercise (play ) every day at least once a day but she gets too lazy and just wants us to do all the work while she watches us and is probably laughing.

My feeling is life isn't always perfect; so, why should a quilt, since a quilt is like a representation of life. I played with and cleaned up my 1887 Wheeler and Wilson that came from Portugal yesterday. It is so funny because the bobbin in the W & W 9W in way different than my Singer 9W - the way it fits in this funny bobbin case thing - but, it threads and works exactly like my Singer 9W. I had to print out a manual for W&W #8 to figure out how to take out and insert the bobbin, but I have to use my Singer 9W manual to thread and use the machine! So interesting! The 1887 W&W work perfectly! This is the first time I have taken the time to oil and clean that machine!
Now, I need to get time to oil and clean up my Davis Vertical Feed machine!
