I had one just like it for a while; made by Free and nearly identical to the Elna Grasshopper.

Kathie, I am sorry, I can hear your frustration. You are right, the hand wheel on the White goes away from you, the opposite of most other machines.

On your Lotus, is your needle inserted correctly - flat side to the right? Is the needle a good, not bent or barbed needle? Is the needle threaded from left to right? Is the machine threaded correctly? Is the bobbin threaded correctly - leading from the top and threaded in the slot in the bobbin case correctly?

Kathie, sometimes it is best to walk away and come back fresh - ready to start over. That is what I had to do for two months while I fought with my Betty (Davis Vertical Feed) until I finally got it working.

Whoda thunked it? A magnetic business card for a seam guide! Now that's recycling and reusing! Of course, just last week I pitched 4 of those in the trash from our new phone books.
I ordered those Q-tools today to fix all of my machines at the scant 1/4 inch. No more guessing.lol I haven't been feeling well today though, so hopefully I will get to it tomorrow. I was sooo wanting to drag my nana's treadle out in the shop today and start its cleaning process. (sigh) Guess it will have to wait a little longer.

Nancy, I have rethreaded several times and put a new needle in it. I used a Janome needle. Hubby stood and watch to make sure I did everything according to the book. He double checked my threading also. Hopefully one day I will check on to this, shall we say fun,

Nancy, I have rethreaded the machine several times with hubby watching me to make sure that is done by the book. I put in a new Janome needle. I tried using the old cheap thread, I tried using good thread and nothing helped. I am ready to throw in the towel. I may just take it into Ernie at Eand D and let them figure it out. Kathie

I wish I had the extra money, this week. I would be running right over there right now! It's just the next town over from me.
Wish I was closer, I am looking for a 301.
I am sick, sick, sick     . I ended up calling the ad and I will go to see it in the morning. Well, now my other black 301 will no longer be lonely  I have several two tone 301's and 2 mocha 301's and my lonely little black one was feeling left out.
Well, this 301 plus cabinet now resides at my house

It has a knee pedal that pushes up against the foot pedal which is attached underneath the inside of the cabinet. I can't get the pedal out. Is there some sort of trick to getting the pedal out of the brackets or do you think it is just stuck from years of non-use? I actually have several cabinets like this, with the pedal stuck in the bracket.

Behind in reading board, so apologize if someone has already said this, BUT there are bots trolling message boards finding copywrite photos and suing the boards. If I were you, I would lose the avatar immediately and replace with one of your own.

If you use a dremel to slightly enlarge the hinge pin holes in the Necchi, it will fit in a Singer treadle.
