Hey Guys. DGM is 93. She was born in 1920. She is doin' better taday & the PT came & got her up a bit taday. She walked few steps too. I am still havin' trouble gittin' on when I'm here at the hospital. I slept most o' the day.

Mirabelle - that quilt for you daughter is gorgeous! I love the subdued colors, so different! I think your quilter should be informed that you are not happy with the job she did. I find it hard to confront people, so it would be hard for me to do, but you paid her to do a job, and it is not what you wanted.

dublb - glad to hear that your grandma is doing better, I can't believe how early they get someone out of bed that had hip surgery, especially some at age 93! Did they do a hip replacement?

QNS - great looking blocks! That 50/40 block is almost like one of the blocks I did for the Celtic Solstice Mystery - except ours had another four patch in the middle. Those Tennessee Waltz blocks are going to make a beautiful quilt!

Mirabelle, your Kaleidescope quilt is gorgeous! I agree with everyone on the star quilt. I don't understand why she did that. Can you talk to her?

Janie, your block is beautiful, I love the colours!

QNS, you sure have been busy. Great blocks! Only thing is, on the Kansas Trouble block all outer HST's are facing the wrong direction.

Dublb, good to hear your DGM is doing a bit better!

Mirabelle...I love the Baptist Fan pattern and it is completely lost in your stars quilt. I've never seen one so large! I agree that something should be said to her. Better than you just stewing about it and her thinking that you were satisfied with her work. Love DD's quilt.
QNS....you have been making up for lost time with all that's coming out of your sewing room. It was pleasant to hear a compliment for DH....
JanieW....what beautiful fabrics for the TW! What plans do you have for it when you get it completed?
Dubib...enjoy the moments you have with DGM even when the circumstances are not ideal but do take care of yourself.
Jeanie....are you in the drought area if California? It doesn't sound good at all.
carrie....glad your arm is getting better. I can tell you're chomping at the bit to get going. Maybe more things that don't require so much trimming...like the jelly roll quilts....even what they call crumb quilts....sewing scraps on paper just every which way to make blocks. It's not just a slow down, it's an opportunity to do something different that can give you as much satisfaction and pleasure.
Honchey....bummer....I've noticed that any pressure on my legs that slows down circulation can cause me to have cramps at night so I have to be careful how I sit as well. I don't usually have swelling though.
Rain, ice and snow yesterday and much colder now so everything is slick and white today. Stay safe everyone!

Thanks, Anael, I had not noticed KT was wrong on the outside row; now do I correct or let it be and be one of a kind...later I will decide. Have a good one.

Dh has sympathy pains, so I gave him a couple of Advil pills yesterday; it helped him. Love how he is finally organizing his shop, and he has plans of doing more this month since the garage is attached to the house and it is a heated space used by my nine cats and his tool section and my pantry of canned goods.

Funny how everyone noticed the beautiful job that Janie did; and it was wonderful which leaves me wondering what was wrong with my 54-40 block...

Thanks again, Anael on noticing the KT problem...I do like it better corrected, now on to more Sylvia blocks.

Thanks Honchey for the update. We will see who posts first in the February SYEs.

QNS--you both made great 54-40 blocks...if you read through the last couple pages again you will see lots of compliments on your blocks and progress in general. I know some days I just post in reply to the last picture I saw...I don't always have time to reply to each post. Other days I feel great and "chatty" so have longer posts.

Migraine yesterday and today...time for a nap (I took a 3 hr one yesterday and that helped a lot)....

JanieW ... your TW fabrics have a nice calming sense to them. How appropriate for a waltz!

DDamsel and GGal ... a great block! So unique and will be a fun addition to all the scrappy ones

QNS ... have you made your final decision on the TW fabrics? Soon be time for your DJ kits to arrive ... January's well on the way? Seems like you are non-stop again. ITA nice to see a compliment to MrQNS

So how has everyone done with their January Quilty Goals, whether UFOs, new starts, or whatever?? I'm going to check in on my original post to see what I committed to and will check back in later.

Then ...... time to consider what February's goals might be!!
I have a general idea ... just need to see what might be realistic amidst other commitments and then wondering how many snEw days I can rely on to achieve them!!

QuiltE, still looking for suggestions before doing any more blocks on TW...and yes, I have the January DJ kits which I posted pictures of and hope to begin soon....ten days before February kits will be mailed to me, so that gives me some time...time does fly. I highly value suggestions from this group, and feel good about everyone of them.

Thanks, Carrie, for your kind words. Hope your headache gets better soon.

Gardnergal - yes even though we live 10 miles from the coast, our rainfall so far this year is .88". The whole of last year our rainfall was 3.49". Our normal rainfall is around 12" a year. Our lakes are really low - 50 to 60% full, so it is looking bad for this year if we don't get some significant rainfall.

Looks like everyone is making great progress on their projects. I have almost caught up on my 50 Fab Stars blocks. I've got three rows sewn on my Celtic Solstice Quilt, and picked out the fabrics for my last MB.

QuiltE, to be honest I don't remember what my goals were for January but I'm sure I didn't do what I was supposed to. I will have to find the post again but not now.
Will think about the new goals

Today was a lousy day for quilting; I finally gave up and quit for the day because of errors upon errors and nothing was working out today. Tomorrow is an new day...probably shop tomorrow with the new storm coming in on Tuesday dumping snow on us through Wednesday. and colder the rest of the week. Its a blessing I can sew in the quilting room and not worry about it. One day at a time...one hour at a time if necessary.

Thanks for your feed back, Honchey, on the TW block.

Well it looks like this wi fi here at the hospital is doin great here on the QB, finally. I couldn't git on earlier in the evenin'. I still can't reply ta any e-mails nor git on my other forum. I spent 4 hours playin mindless games while waitin' for my e-mail ta come up. I was able ta read most o' 'em but couldn't open any links nor reply ta any o' 'em.
I have been leavin my laptop her at the hospital durrin the day 'cause there isn'ta time w/o some family here in the room & it's very heavy. That's what I git for wantin' such a big screen ta see everybody's quilts!
DGM is doin' better they have been battelin' keepin' her blood pressure down. They have been here ta git her up both day before yesterday & yesterday. She is ta go ta rehab tamarrow.
The weather here has been so strange! Last weekend it was veeeeery cold. Temps in the teens. Burrrrr! Wed Mornin is was 15*F at it's lowest but got up ta 50*F in the afternoon. Then Thurs & Fri it was just belos 80*! (?) That's hot! Sat it was a comfortable 68*. Sunday mornin' at about midnight there was lightnin' & suddenly sleet! It sleeeted all the rest o' the night! I had ta use my handquiltin' hoop ta scrape the windsheild. (Yes I have a brand new ice scraper & it was at home in a very "safe" place. LOL) I left the hospital at about 7:30 in th'mornin'. When I got home DH was fixin' breakfast. As I went ta bed it had started snowin'. After I got up in the afternoon it was all thawin' out. Now it's freezin' again. Bleck! DM & I discussed it & I don't want her ta git out till it thaws out which it's supposed ta do at around 10:00. Highs for tamarrow will be in the upper 40's & lows after that in the upper 30's. "This is W TX weather, if ya don't like it wait 15 min.s, it'll change." was what my DDad always said!
    As for my Jan goals;
They will be done in the next couple o' days!
*The cancer "dot" blocks need just a few touch ups & in the mail they will go.
*The ladybug blocks I have for a swap are all done except sewin' the buttons on for the black spots. I hope ta git those bought tamarrow & they will also be mailed out asap!
I will mail both o' those priority mail so they wont be as late.
I have seen everybody lovely MB's & other quilts. Ya'll are so very talented!
Well I think I'm gonna wander down the hall & see if I can find some peanuts in the vendin' machine "cause DGM is sound asleep right now.

Mirabelle, could you email me the SYE pattern by number, one page at a time in PDF format? What you sent to Honchey will not print out right here at my computer/printer. Thanks so much. Please do not enlarge the print.

Goals: keep busy keep trying and repeat. Sylvia and Dear Jane is filling my days so much dh is wanting more of my time, so will have to balance that better than last Saturday/Sunday. Forecast says warmer today, and terrible to worst all week long after today. So better get on with the day....have a good one every body!
