QuiltnCowgirl that, I am pretty sure, is a Model 15. Look where the tension is - on the face of the machine. A Model 99 has the tension on the front side like most machines. Also, a Model 99 is a 3/4 size machine. Anyone else? I would bet on it being a 15.

Potted motor? Here's the back view from the $50 ad:

Thank you Miz Johnny! I knew it was a Model 15 from where the tension is located and it is a full sized machine!

So both of them are Model 15? Seems like the $50 one would be a great deal & I should grab it?

By "both of them" are you referring to your pictures and the second posting of the machine someone is asking $150 for? No they are not both Model 15's. The one with the $150 asking price is probably a Model 99? Miz Johnny what do you say?

Anyway, no they are not both 15's. Look at the machines -- the thread tension is located on different places and the $150 machine looks to me to be a 3/4 size Model 99.

    Nancy

And Yes, for $50 (you may be able to talk that down a little) the model 15 is a great machine. I have a 15-88 (treadle) that I use daily and love it! The Model 99 that is for sale for $150 is over priced.

Maybe I've confused everyone. There are two machines I've posted, and from looking closer, now that I have been tutored by you guys, here's what I think they are. Let me know if I've got it right.

    Singer 99 ($50)

    Singer 15 ($150)

Miz Johnny or anyone else, what do you know about a "Free" treadle. I have a friend of a friend who wants me to buy her "Free" treadle.

Does the Free take a special needle -- I have enough of those around here? The machine looks really good and it is in a parlor cabinet that completely closes up.

    What do you guys think?

QuiltnCowgirl you have them backwards. The top one is the Model 15-91, the bottom one is the Model 99.

The machine with the asking price of $50 is the Model 15.
