So I never made it to my machine yesterday, however, it's been raining all day so the little kiddos have to stay inside and their mommy can piece to her hearts content.

I will definitely start with a new needle...have to remember to put the flat side on the right. And thank you so much for this site. I have bookmarked it and hope I can understand them ok.

Youtube is a really good resource, but it's hard to search for stuff. Just search hand quilting sometime and it'll come up with like 500 videos. It's craziness!!

PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I have an early New Home Treadle(1880's) and can't figure out the shuttle threading process. It loads from the side and I can't find any reference to this type of shuttle. There is a hold in the side about the size that thread couldo through, but where would it go from there???? Need some direction to go!!!

A Singer Lotus 66-1 was the first of the Singer 66. The decals are just there for decoration and a way to sell machines. The Lotus was the first decals used from 1900-1910, and then Singer switched to the Redeye decal. My two Lotus 66-1 are back mount machines which means the the side mount attachments can't be used with them. I have used my oldest, 1907, to make a complete baby quilt, from piecing to straight-stitch quilting. The machine makes a pretty stitch!

Janice, I would love to see your Tbird. The one at the cruise I believe was a '57. It was white and turquose, my favorite colors. So I was just all drooling and wanted to drive it away.

I learned to thread my New Home shuttle on Youtube. They all basically thread the same way. Try this video.

No, my question was whether you owned that 66-1 you showed the pic of, and if there was anything unusual about that model. You just answered both....I do so appreciate everyone's information here. I am really a novice at this vintage machine collecting. I don't want to get one that I can't do anything with. My collection so far: Elna Supermatic, Singer 301, Singer 99k, Western Electric Rotary 1917. Hoping to add this 66-1, and I'll try to get a treadle cabinet to put it into. It's been electrified, but I would like to treadle it. The 99 I am planning to put a hand crank on in the near future. I just found some Greist top mount attachments for my Western Electric. It didn't have any when I bought it. I have to rewire that one. Again, I do so appreciate any and all information I get here. Thanks!! :thumbup:

If my husband wouldn't kill me (and if I had the money and space) after buying the featherweight and the 99, I would love to have this! The case is really cool and it would be neat to have a treadle!

Lori, at least three of the attachments in the first are for a Wheeler & Wilson 8 or 9, or a Singer 9W. The rest look to be top clamp attachments...National sewing machines comes to mind for those, altho there are others. I'm at work right now, so will look it up for you when I get home, and will identify the rest of them too. The ones that have a "twist" to the foot are hemmers...
