    The board looked at this machine on page 1439. Apparently it is a reproduction made in Taiwan. Pretty decals, but not vintage.

    I like your 66. I have one a little newer and it sews great. It was an impulse buy, because the original owner had written the date she bought it inside the front cover of the manual, and it was my actual birthday minus 6 years. How could she have know what I wanted??? She was reluctant to sell the machine including manual and buttonholer w/ manual and extra templates, but her daughter had upgraded her to a nice plastic machine and she hated to keep both. I was good enough to tell her that if she changed her mind and wanted it back I would understand.....she is an older lady on my paper route, so I was trying to be nice.

    Just purchased a HONEYMOON treadle sewing machine. The machine is filthy. The cabinet is pretty but in bad shape.

    I tried to google the machine but got mostly machines up for bid or inquiries about them.

    Any help anywhere?

    I'm headed out to the barn to take some snap shots.

    Yes.
    According to Singer site for serial #'s, your machine was made in Podolsk, Russia, the 'E' series stared to be built in 1908, but the records were lost.

    Okay, the HONEYMOON treadle that I bought has almost no identification. There is a number on the bobbin plate but that's all I can find so far.

    Also, I'm guessing the gizmo on the top is the tension. Seems like an ultra simple machine.

    Now the Singer. Has a motor but is it original? It's in a treadle cabinet which means nothing. Has drop in bobbin which I'm assuming is rather new?

    The electric cords melted while the machine was IN the cabinet so there is black rubber gunk on the machine.

    Only one number that might identify it. The only other info is on the motor.

    I dug up a white one made something like that - it was in my stash. I can't figure out how to attach it to the machine. I'd be happy to get half that much for it though...
    YEAH! I got it to work. I'm not sure that it is identical to the penguin. (I should shoot it's picture.) It isn't like the new ones either. It is definitely for a short shank machine. Mine is white - has a pretty solid feel to it. I have a couple newer ones - lots of plastic on the newer ones - don't have the same feel. Then I have a consew walking foot sewing machine... it will sew through about anything. Pretty cool.
