Vintage Sewing Machine Shop.....Come on in and sit a spell
#7751
I wanted to thank the folks for their input when I was considering two vintage machines. I really liked both for different reasons and ended up getting both of them.
The Singer is home, I am very pleased with it. I will replace the wire to the foot control since it is rather brittle. Otherwise nothing needs to be done to it.
I will pick up the Standard Rotary Treadle sometime this week. It runs beautifully and has all the original attachments, and original operating manual. Most likely around 100 years old.

I would be picking up that machine after work tomorrow, cleaning it in the evening (at my kitchen table if it is too cold outside in the garage) and this weekend just to get it cleaned up to use. No, waiting until spring for me. In fact, it would have already been in my house by now! :) eeks, go get that machine girl!

ok, I keep hearing about FMQ on treadles... just got my first one today, pics a couple pages back... HOW do you do that? I learned on a treadle a looong time ago, gramma taught me when I was little... but i only did simple little projects, like doll clothes, using up her scraps for dolly blankies, dog tug-o-war toys, and then progressed to making a sundress when I was about 12... How do you do FMQ on these babies? That seems like my old bones would jostle outta whack? (I'm seeing disco dancing in my seat as a better visual haa haa)

Serial #H149696 (user's book is dated 1921). It appears to just be very very dirty, and the drive cable is snapped, but all seems to move fairly smoothly! I've attached a pic of the toys I got with the machine:
I am back working again in the studio!!
Your machine is a model 27 (bobbin winder is mounted low) and it was allotted on February 6 1906 with 60,000 of them allotted. You are right it has the Tiffany Gingerbread decals on it. For what decals that are left on the machine they are in really nice condition.
The cabinet that you have is the top of the line treadle cabinet offered before the Parlor and Drawing Room cabinets. I have always loved the ornamental work on the drawers. You definitely have a real nice sewing machine and you did really good on the price!!
