I love our WalMart fabric department. The fabric seems OK for someone on a limited budget, they have tons of bolts of fabric and most of the staff are very helpful. Sometimes I have to wait for a staff person to show up but that's because they are responsible for more than one dept. I would be devastated if our WalMart got rid of their fabric as this is the only place with 45 miles to buy.

Sadly there are lots of lazy people in the work force. This is just proof of it, they would prefer to stay home and have a check sent to them. Management is one of them too. Some people take no pride in their work, no matter how much they are paid. Just the way it is. It wouldn't matter where they work.

sounds like our walmart that just opened their fabric dept. They just threw the bolts on the racks and slapped high prices on cheap cotton. I cant even get threads. Nobody to cut the fabric.

"My" Walmart has a terrific fabric department. I love going into the store to browse fabric...but I think, as some of you have said, that is a matter of who's running the department.

I also think it depends on the individual Walmart. We have 2 here. One store is great on service and one stinks.

Walmart has cut staff to the bone so the management can have a big bonus.
there is no staff in any of the areas to help with anything and it all adds up on the bottom line as savings therefore managers bonus!
and this will continue Bentonville cares nothing about complaints, sure they listen but it stops there.

I guess the newness has warn off. Oh well. Do you think it is time for another email to corrprate?
Call 1(800) WALMART and report the problem, then wait 2-3 days. Corporate folks take these 'messes' quite seriously.

I know of one WalMart that kept a fabric department as you described. Fabric thrown around everywhere, bolts of fabric just halfway on the shelves, with notions that were disorganized and obviously poor department management. Of course they took out the fabric department and have not yet brought it back, but I hope they have better management if they do. I have seen nicer and better kept fabric departments at other WalMarts, but that one was one big mess.
