I'm upset...he didn't like it

I want you to know that I feel bad for both of you. You most of all because it's devastating to give of yourself and not feel valued for doing so. I feel bad for him, too, because he missed out on the opportunity to draw closer to you by showing his love and appreciation! My DH regrets his insensitivity toward our girls now that he's older and they are all grown up! Unfortunately some words and deeds cannot be taken back.
You did a great job on the wall hanging! The colors and pattern work very well together! I couldn't miss the chance to show some support. We're all with you on this one, girl!
Just tell me how or why some men can be so goofy at times?

WOW! Looks like you dealt with Mr. Cranky Pants. I would get it back and give it to someone who will appreciate it. It is pretty. ...since when does Father's Day = Patriotic patterns? I must be missing something.

Was he in the military? If so, maybe it brought back some bad memories that he has since tried to forget. Does he have anything else patriotic in his house? Or is he just like that usually and hard to please. Well, I think it is beautiful and if I were you, I would go back and get it and use it myself, or give it to someone else who would appreciate it. People can be so hurtful sometimes but I wouldn't let that steal my joy. You gave it for the right reasons and it is his loss if he doesn't care for it. You can send it to me! I would hang it with pride!

Ouch! I haven't read through all the pages but I just had to respond. {{{{{hugs}}}}} Sometimes people can be mean and cruel without ever realizing it. My suggestion, trade him for something he likes and keep this for yourself. I gave away everything I made for the first few years and I sure wish I had the very first thing I made. Your father may not appreciate it but I bet it would look great hanging up in your home!
And amazing work for your first quilt! Holy smokes, you go girl!!!!

It's not anything you did wrong!! It's your dad's problem. I pray that sometime soon he will see his mistake.
The wall hanging is lovely!!
I made 2 throws for my in-laws and my father-in-law didn't even unfold them but stood up and put them on his chair and sat back down. I never saw them again until he went to the hospital last month and I found that he is now using them nightly.
Some people are just selfish and unreasonable. I pray that yours and mine will change!

I gave a baby quilt to a relative many years ago...I went to visit their home a few months later and entered the house through the garage and saw the stained, nasty quilt in the greasy rags box. So when she had more babies, she did not receive another quilt from me. As other relatives have babies, I continue to make them quilts...this particular gal is clearly angry that she never received any more...but I don't have the nerve to tell her why. I expect my quilts to used and make them sturdy enought to endure many, many washings...but to use it as a grease rag...I don't get it.
I have to make one for my sister, but I have to get some fabric for it first!
